Chapter 4
For some reason, when Sandra’s familiar voice sounded, I didn’t know why.
Emmett, who was usually quiet and reserved, unexpectedly spoke with a hint of anger in his voice.
“Sandra, you were not a three–year–old child anymore!”
“Is running away from home such an immature thing to do at your age?“.
“Do you know what negative impact it would have on the Dudley family if it got out?”
“Sorry.”
Emmett held onto his phone and loosened his tie.
But felt the heavy boulder in my chest suddenly being lifted.
“Knowing that he was wrong, he quickly came back,” his tone softened a bit.
“Emmett, I was looking for you for something else.”
“What happened?”
“I sent you something, considering the time, you should have received it by now.”
“What else needs to be mailed? Can’t you just bring it back when you come home?”
Sandra still had her gentle and calm tone. “I didn’t go home.”
“Please pay attention to sign for the delivery.”
“If you have no objections after reading it, please sign it.”
“I will call you again in two days.”
“The phone I used was borrowed from someone else, please don’t call again, I couldn’t answer
“Sandra, what did you mean?”
Emmett felt relieved for just a moment, but suddenly his heart was lifted again.
“Emmett.”
“I was not very happy during the three years I was married to you.”
“So, let’s get divorced.”
Emmett did not speak.
”
Sandra also remained silent, as if politely waiting for his response.”

Where were you now?”
4 doesn’t matter,” Emmett glanced at the silent dusk outside the window, “Sandra, what are you throwing a tantrum for?”
On the other end of the phone, Sandra did not say another word.
She seemed to laugh softly.
Then, he hung up the phone direct
Emmett almost instinctively dialed back in time immediately.
But the person who answered the phone was already a stranger aunt.
She spoke in a dialect from an unknown place, and Emmett couldn’t understand.
He could only apologize and then hang up.
The dusk fell heavily, and he sat there in the deepening twilight, motionless.
Married for three years, Sandra was like a cup of lukewarm water that remained at a constant
45–degree angle.
She was not angry and never got angry.
The speech was always gentle and soft–spoken.
Everyone liked her and praised her.
He almost forgot, to the point where he almost forgot.
At the beginning of their marriage, it was merely a grudge between the elders. Yet, with such a small amount of favor, she managed to secure the position of the Dudley family’s daughter–in–law.
How could she appear so kind and harmless, without any ulterior motives?
Emmett turned around and walked up
holding in his hand.
He saw himself in the mirror.

Furrowed brows, with a bundle of anger simmering in the eyes.
And he never used to show his emotions.
Now, however, I was constantly thrown off balance by this trivial matter.
Emmett quickly returned to his usual expressionless demeanor.
I stepped out of the master bedroom and went downstairs,

Jacey called him from the downstairs living room, and he simply responded with a faint voice.
Ask the servant to bring over the package received today.
Emmett picked out the letters sent by Sandra and opened them.
Jacey stood to the side and let out a low gasp, covering her mouth.
Emmett expressionlessly tore up the divorce agreement and threw it into the trash can. “Emmett…”
