Chapter 8
The light in his eyes gradually faded. This time, he didn’t stop me from leaving.
As I went upstairs, a bitter smile appeared on my lips.
Sure enough, he was just temporarily guilty.
As long as I showed a slightly cold face, he would immediately turn around and leave.
The firm preference, always belonged to Julianna. Returning home and seeing Megan’s worried
expression, I comfortingly patted her head and told her to go to sleep.
I sat curled up on the sofa until late at night, feeling dizzy from sending out resumes.
Fortunately, I soon received the interview notice.
The next morning, as I walked out with my bag, I bumped into a figure dressed in a suit and leather
shoes at the door.
The frustration of last night has vanished, and Felix approached me with a smirk on his face,
clutching the file folder in his hand.
He handed me the treasure–like object, with a faint glimmer of anticipation in his eyes.
“You moved here to live, right? The property is under my name, and this house was too old and too
small.”
He confidently opened his mouth to disdain the house I bought with my own abilities, ignoring my
darkened face.
Without waiting for my response, he continued, “Are you dressed like this? Are you going to look
for a job?”
“The Sampson family could afford to support you, you don’t need to do these things,” I laughed ou
loud in anger,
and immediately retorted, “Felix, do you have nothing better to do? Who do you
think you are?”
“I live here just so I don’t have to see you for the rest of my life, don’t you understand? Is your intellectual development slower than others?”
“I don’t need you to support me! I have hands and feet to work on my own! Previously, it was just a
disguise to fit into this position! Even without you, I can still earn money!”
After speaking, I directly bumped into him, pushing his hand holding the file bag aside.
As soon as I took a couple of steps, Felix stretched his long legs and stepped right in front of me.
There was a faint trace of humility and pleading in the depths of the eyes.

The voice sounded somewhat insincere when he spoke. “How could I, managing such a big
company, have any free time? I had Leonel attend the meeting for me today. I just took a little time off temporarily. I’m really sorry about Auntie’s situation…”
His hypocritical apology made me feel sick to my stomach.
In the past, countless times I waited for him to come back home, and he always said he was busy.
Mom is no longer here, and I wanted to get a divorce. However, he suddenly had time.
Remembering the way my mother gasped for breath in Megan’s arms, my nails dug deeply into the palm of my hand.
He gritted his teeth and said, “If your apology could bring my mother back to life, then I will accept
it.”
“Otherwise, please disappear from my sight forever from now on!”
“Felix, I really can’t understand you. When we got married, you warned me with a cold face not to have any feelings for you. And then you became even more excessive, treating Julianna as your wife
and allowing her to exercise all privileges. Now that I want a divorce, why are you coming to me again?”
His face turned a little pale in response to my questioning.
Just as I was about to speak, the phone rang.
He glanced down and directly pressed the lock screen button to mute it.
The action was smooth as if it had been rehearsed countless times.
I suddenly became doubtful. In all those countless nights in the past three years when I was concerned about his late return, did he always hang up my calls like this?
The bell had just stopped ringing, but the other party called again before he could speak.
Felix’s eyes revealed a familiar impatience.
He lowered his voice and looked up at me tentatively.
I extended my hand forward expressionlessly and pointed, indicating him to leave quickly.
While he turned around to answer the phone, I left directly from another direction.
As soon as I got in the car, I set my phone to silent mode.
