Chapter 3
Nicola thought I was just throwing a tantrum.
Recently, he had been doing everything he could to cheer me up. He even suggested we go to the beach for a little getaway.
But every time he made such promises, I would forget about them almost
immediately. After all, there were always unexpected hurdles before he could keep his word.
Now, it hit me. Perhaps Angela was
intentionally making things difficult, stirring up jealousy. But to my surprise, this time, everything seemed calm.
When I walked into the living room, Angela

was already sitting on the couch, her legs crossed as though she owned the place.
“Hey, sis! Come sit!” Angela called out, flashing a grin that made my stomach churn. She spoke as if she were the one in charge.
Nicola immediately looked up and rushed to explain, “I mentioned the beach today, and Angela insisted she wanted to join. I figured, what’s one more person? So, I thought, why not let her come along?”
He then turned to me with a forced smile, his eyes flicking nervously. “By the way, Angela gets motion sickness, so I thought it would be better if she sat near the window. You’re not upset, are you?”
Before I could respond, Angela interjected, her voice dripping with sweetness. “Oh, come on, sis. You’ll understand, right?”

Before I could answer, Angela chimed in, “Oh, I’m sure you’ll understand, sis.”
With that, she reached out, lightly lifting Nicola’s chin with her fingers, her gaze tender but laced with challenge.
Nicola blinked in surprise before lowering his gaze, filled with affection and tenderness. This scene made my stomach churn with disgust.
I walked up to Nicola, staring directly into his eyes, and said, calmly but firmly,
“Nicola, I can’t do this anymore. It’s time for us to end it.”
“Sara, it’s just a little trip; having Angela with us won’t change anything. Stop seeing her as a threat.”

I gave a bitter smile. “Nicola, you’re mistaken. What I want is a divorce, nothing
more.”
“Must you make a scene in front of everyone? You have nothing going for you. Who else would tolerate you like I do?”
“With your abilities, you can barely stand on your own in this world. I’ve spoiled you these past few years,”
“Spoiled me? Since when have you spoiled me in this marriage?”
“Sara, be honest with me–haven’t I given you everything? The food, the drinks, everything you’ve had comes from my hard work! Have I ever asked you to lift a finger? And now, you’ve become so ungrateful, so arrogant?”

“You always threaten me with divorce. Can’t you come up with a new tactic?”
Angela, red–eyed, ran over to try and calm things down. “Sara, stop overreacting.”
Just then, a sharply dressed man knocked at the door.
Nicola quickly composed himself and went to greet the man with a fake smile. “Mr. Anderson, I didn’t know you’d be here. If you’d let me know earlier, I could have arranged something for you.”
Mr. Anderson didn’t ever
Mr. Anderson didn’t even glance at Nicola.
Instead, he walked straight over to me,
saying, “Young Lady, the master sent me to bring you home.”
