Chapter 15
Lindsey casually picked up the bottle of drink that June had left behind and walked over. “I actually think this dress suits you perfectly, revealing what should be revealed and concealing what shouldn’t. How could that be considered a wardrobe malfunction?”
Lindsey paused mid–sentence, then suddenly clapped her hand over her mouth in a feigned gasp. “Oops, June, could it be that you’re refusing this dress because you can’t afford it!”
Sheila’s face turned pale with anger. She spun around and glared at Lindsey furiously, not realizing that this instinctive action was about to cause a major disaster.
Lindsey’s face drained of color as she pointed at the dress on June. “It’s ruined June, the dress is stained. Now you have no choice but to buy it.”
With that, Lindsey wiped i the exaggerated look from her face and feigned a friendly smile at June.
Shawn sat on the sofa, watching the scene with great interest. He shook his head with a smile, inwardly marveling at Lindsey’s feisty personality.
June’s face was as white as a sheet from fear. She simply couldn’t come up with 400 bousand dollars on the spot.
The sales associate’s expression also changed. She stared at june with displeasure, her voice laced with heavy suspicion “Ms. Jennings, please follow me to the front desk to senle the bill
June gritted her teeth, her fingers clenching tightly together.
Suddenly, she pointed at Lindsey. This dress was clearly stained by her. Why should I pay for it! You should be going after her
Lindsey raised an eyebrow, June, that’s a bit of a stretch. The dress is on you, if it’s stained, it’s your responsibility. I’m not taking the blame for that.
“Would the dress have gotten stained if you hadn’t been standing behind me with that drink? You did it on purpose, June said through gritted teeth. her anger palpable.
Lindsey smiled. She had done it on purpose, but June couldn’t do anything about it.
She looked at June with amusement. “You didn’t say that a moment ago, June. Ask the staff here, who should compensate for the dress?”
The sales associate quickly chimed in, all too eager to please. “Of course, the bill should be on Ms. Jennings”
June’s eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at the sales associate. She was a regular big spender here. She couldn’t understand how they dared to treat her this way for the sake of Lindsey, who looked like a loser to her.
She questioned loudly, “Are you all mistaken! Why are you all so obedient to Lindsey? Does she deserve it! She’s a pauper; she might not even have the money to pay for the dress she stained.”
After a pause, June turned to Lindsey with a soft tone. “How about this. Lindsey, if you stop instigating the staff here to make me pay, we consider this matter settled. You won’t have to pay for your dress either”
Lindsey was a bit confused by June’s line of thinking. “Are you saying you’ll help me pay for it?”
“How could that be? They can just wash the dress, and the stains will come off. Once it’s clean, it can still be sold,” June said.
Lindsey was taken aback, stunned by June’s proposition.
The sales associate’s face turned even angrier. “Ms. Jennings, that is an insult to our products. Our brand’s clothing would never be treated this way. It’s deceitful to customers. You should come and settle the bill with me.”
June, of course, was unwilling She retorted, “On what grounds! Lindsey also stained a dress. Why aren’t you going after her? If she pays. Il pay
June was certain that Lindsey couldn’t afford the dress. With Olivia and her mother around, it was unlikely that Lindsey had any money on her.
Upon hearing this, the sales associate’s expression finally softened a bit. “Ms. Riley has already settled her bill. Ms. Jennings, please honor your
commitment.”
“What are you saying?” June stared at the sales associate as if she had seen a ghost
“I said Ms. Riley has already paid, Ms. Jennings, please settle your bill,”
ill, the sales associate was now clearly impatient

Chapter 15
June’s fingers trembled as she pointed at Lindsey, still seemingly in disbelief. She bit her lip. “Wait a moment. I need to make a phone call”
The sales associate continued to watch her intently and followed her closely.
Sheila lowered her voice. “Hello? Tina, do you have any money on you right now? I’m in urgent need, could you lend me some!”
“What? You don’t have any? Really, you can’t spare any at all? You got so much commission last month, how is it possible you have nothing? Hello! Tina“” June was still speaking, but the line had already gone dead with the sound of a disconnected call,
Frustrated, June stomped her foot took off her necklace and bracelet, and thrust them at the sales associate. Here, are you satisfied now!”
Watching June storm off in anger, Lindsey sighed, feeling a sense of loss for the exquisitely designed dress.
Shawn handed a shopping bag to Lindsey. “Go change into it”
Lindsey was taken aback.
These are the clothes I picked out for you earlier. I’ve already paid for them” Shawn explained.
When Lindsey opened the bag in the fitting room, she found that even shoes had been thoughtfully included, and she couldn’t help but marvel at the thoughtfulness.
In fact, after these few encounters, Lindsey found Shawn to be quite gentle and considerate. She didn’t understand how the outside world portrayed him as a ferocious and ruthless villain with a sinister look. He seemed very approachable and was also very handsome
After changing, Lindsey found the dress surprisingly fitting, making her appear gentle and dignified, exuding a serene aura from within. She couldn’t help but praise Shawn’s discerning taste.
Exiting the mall. Shawn drove, and the car headed towards the Ludwig manor.
Lindsey looked around and asked, “Where’s Matt! I don’t see him.”
Shawn replied indifferently, “He went back to move“
“Move?” Lindsey was somewhat surprised.
“Yes,” Shawn answered briefly.
Seeing that Shawn didn’t wish to elaborate, Lindsey didn’t press further. She thought she should perhaps find out more about Dennis’s preferences from Shawn to avoid upsetting him.
“Shawn, does your father have any particular dislikes? Or behaviors be detests?” Lindsey inquired
Shawn glanced at Lindsey from the corner of his eye, a faint smile playing at the corner of his mouth. “Are you nervous about meeting the parents?”
Lindsey was taken aback. Her feelings were indeed somewhat akin to the anxiety before meeting one’s partner’s family.
“Actually, I don’t know much about my father’s likes and dislikes either. Just use your judgment, Shawn said.
Lindsey was speechless, not understanding why Shawn was so unfamiliar with his own father.
As if reading Lindsey’s thoughts, Shawn explained, “I spend most of my time abroad and don’t get to spend much time with my father, so I really can’t help you much.”
Lindsey shifted her gaze out the window, silently lamenting. What a daunting task.‘
The Ludwig family was incredibly wealthy, and their manor was built like a garden, la had long colonnades, rockeries, woods, and a small bridge over flowing water.
This was Lindsey’s first visit to the Ludwig manor. She looked around with the wide–eyed wonder of someone who had never seen such grandeur
before.
Shawn led her to where Dennis was. It was in a small pavilion in the middle of the lake, where Dennis was brewing coffee.
Lindsey suddenly became very reserved, even taking smaller steps as she walked.
“Oh, you’re here? Dennis looked up. As he got a clear look at Lindsey, his expression suddenly froze.
