Chapter 171
Antonio sat in the corner of his cell with his back against the cold concrete wall and his arms resting loosely over his knees.
His face was shadowed and his expression unreadable.
y walls
The dim’overhead light flickered slightly, casting eerie shadows across the gray
The air smelled of damp stone, sweat, and the metallic scent of rusting iron.
He had barely moved in hours.
He had lost track of time, and so he wondered what time it was
He guessed it was already nighttime, judging from how long everything felt,
However, time was the least of his worries nor the ache in his muscles from sitting in the same position for so long or the very uncomfortable cell.
No, his mind was consumed by one thing
Zabelle.
How was she handling all of this? Was she safe? Was she eating? Was she crying herself to sleep?
Antonio exhaled quietly through his nose, suppressing the frustration building inside him. He hated being here. Hated being unable to protect her. His father was working on getting him out. He knew that.
easily.
But patience was never his virtue. Whenever he wanted something he always got it es
As much as he was frustrated, there was nothing he could do but to trust that his father and mother had checked up on Zabelle
If they had, he knew his mother would calm Zabelle down and that she would be in safe hands.
The sound of heavy doors unlocking broke through the quiet tension of the prison block.
The officers were bringing in new inmates.
Antonio didn’t react nor did he shift. They were worthless and so sparing them a glance was a waste of his time.
So far, none of the other inmates dared to say anything to him, and he wondered if it was because they knew of his reputation or that they were trying to stay out of trouble.
Eithert
rway, it was to his benefit, and so he didn’t really care which reason it was
The other prisoners stirred, some sitting up to get a look at the fresh arrivals. The guards led a group of two men down the corridor, and Antonio squinted his eyes when he saw the officers stop at his cells.
He had been alone all day and now that was about to change which made him annoyed.
The cell opened, and the two men walked into the room
They were loud–laughing, cursing, spitting on the floor like they owned the place.
Typical
Antonio ignored them. However, he should have known the bastards wouldn’t ignore him.
One of th
the men, tall with greasy dark hair and a twisted grin, strolled up where he sat and stared down at him.
“Well, well..” His voice was low and mocking, “What do we have here?”
Antonio didn’t bother to acknowledge him, he didn’t even spare them a glance.
The man clicked his tongue and turned to one of his companions, a stockier man with a sear running down his cheek
“This pretty boy ain’t even looking at us.”

Then recognition sparked
“Shit.” His lips curled into something cruel. “You don’t know who this jo
The greasy–haired man frowned. “Should I?”
The other laughed loudly, “That’s Antonio Garcia.”
A murmur rippled through the nearby inmates. Some looked away, wanting no part of whatever was about to happen. Others simply observed. waiting.
The first man arched his brow. The infamous Antonio Garcia 1 knew they said he had been arrested, but I didn’t believe it.”
“That’s him,” the scarred man confirmed. The rich boy. The heir. The one who thought his money made him untouchable.”
Antonio still didn’t react. It was as though he didn’t hear him.
He did, but he wasn’t interested in whatever nonsense these men wanted to spew
But his silence only fueled them.
The greasy–haired man grinned. “Looks like your money ain’t worth shit in here, pretty boy”
Antonio finally lifted his gaze, but it wasn’t acknowledgement.
It was a warming
His blue eyes held no fear. No concem. No emotion. Just cold indifference.
It sent a visible shudder through the scarred man as it always did to anyone he gave the star
But the first man–he was either too cocky or too stupid to care.
stare to.
must think you’re better than us, huh?” he sneered. “Sitting there all quiet, acting like we ain’t worth your time.
Antonio then went back to ignoring them.
That was a big mistake according to the men’s logic.
The greasy–haired man’s smile dropped.
“Oh. I hate when people ignore me,” he growled and he stepped closer.
The other inmates shifted uncomfortably, but no one interfered.
They had seen what happened to people who got involved in fights that weren’t their own.
The greasy–haired man took another step forward, but Antonio didn’t move.
The scarred man smirked. “You think you’re untouchable? You think just cause you’re Antonio Garcia, nobody in here’s going to put you in your place? Let me show you what we do to people around here, regardless of your status”
Antonio simply tilted his lead slightly as he waited for the man to carry out his threat. Maybe beating someone was just what he needed to let off
That made them snap.
The greasy–haired man lunged first, swinging at Antonio’s face.
Antonio got up so fast it was almost unnatural
He deflected the punch effortlessly, grabbing the man’s wrist and twisting it sharply. A sickening crack echoed through the cell block which made
the man scream.
Antonio shoved him back, making him stumble into his friend.

Chapter 171
The scarred man cursed and charged next.
Antonio didn’t even break a sweat as he ducked the attack, stepping to the side before delivering a brutal elbow to the man’s ribs. The scarred man gasped, staggering.
But they weren’t smart enough to stop. Thugs like them never were.
The greasy–haired man recovered, his face twisted with rage.
He came to Antonio again.
Antonio caught him by the throat and slammed him against the metal bars of the cell.
The entire prison block went silent,
The man choked, his hands clawing at Antonio’s grip.
Antonio leaned in slightly, his voice calm, composed, deadly.
“Sit down, or I swear you’ll never be able to do so by the time I’m done with you.”
He shoved the man to the ground
The greasy–haired man coughed violently, struggling to breathe.
The scarred man wiped blood from his mouth, eyes burning with fury, but they didn’t try to attack anymore, and Antonio thought that was the end
of it
He then turned away, dismissing them completely, with the intention of going back to his thoughts.
That was a grave mistake on his part as the scarred man reached into his pocket and before Antonio could react, a sharp, searing sting exploded in his body which made him stiffen.
He looked down to see that he had been stabbed with a pocket knife. How the hell were they able to smuggle this into the cell?
The blade tore through his skin, just below his ribs.
A second of silence.
Then, cham
The other inmates shouted for the officers and a few seconds later, they arrived, storming into the cells.
The scarred man took a step back, his breathing ragged, his eyes wild with satisfaction.
Antonio exhaled slowly, his vision blurring for a fraction of a second.
But he didn’t fall. He refused to do so in front of the assholes.
Instead, be advanced and the scarred man’s triumphant expression faltered.
Antonio didn’t show pain. He didn’t wince even though the pain was searing through him.
“You’re going to r
regret that, asshole, mark my words,” he promised, his dark eyes devoid of anything but rage.
The man took a step back and Antonio took once forward, but the officers were already there
They grabbed Antonio before he could retaliate.
“Get him to the infirmary!” one of them shouted
Antonio’s body felt heavy as the blood seeped into his shirt, but he kept his head high
His gaze burned into the two men who had attacked him as he marked their faces.
They thought this was over.
They were wrong. This was the beginning
As the guards dragged him away, Antonio made a silent vow.
And when he got out, every last person that had attacked him would pay for every single drop of his blood spilled.
