Lucian’s pov
The ride to the Crimson Shadow pack is not only agonizing but filled with dread in every imaginable way. The reason for it? Flara–who had escaped and ran straight into the arms of my enemy, Alpha Damien
I keep telling myself that it’s because she’s with Damien, that’s why I feel this way, that if it were anyone else, I wouldn’t care because she is nothing me. The years we spent together mean nothing to me. But then why do I feel this way—this gnawing emptiness, as if claws are digging into met Why is every second consumed by thoughts of her? No matter how hard I try to push away the lingering memories that resurface in my mind. I can’t seem to stop them.
Her scent, her smile, her laughter, her constant attempts to catch my attention-even the way she flips her goddamn hair. I must be sick–really
“Alpha Lucian, we’re almost there,” Elijah snaps me out of my thoughts, and I stop drumming my fingers on the armrest. My gaze shifts to the road ahead, and my frown deepens as I spot the sign that reads:
“Welcome to the Crimson Shadow Pack. All packs are welcome here, well, except the Moonfang Pack. If you’re from the Moonfang Pack, you can enter, but you’ll only be carried out as a corpse! Enjoy your stay!”
“Bloody idiot” I munter, rolling my eyes as I straighten up. Almost instantly, the air in the car thickens with tension, my eyes narrowing with focus. I have one goal coming here, and if it weren’t because of Elara, I wouldn’t even bother stepping foot in this forsaken pack
As the car slows down, I don’t wait for Elijah to open the door. I step out, straightening my suit before walking toward the entrance of the pack. Just as I had guessed, they’re already waiting for me–guns cocked, aimed directly at Elijah and me. Several men stand in a tight alert formation, their eyes scanning us with calculated precision
The corner of my lips lifts as I tilt my head at them. I didn’t come here to Eght–I only want Elara back for Theron. I leave peacefully, but if they’re looking for a fight. I won’t mind shedding a little blood here and there.
“Bring the girl to me,” I say, my eyes casually locking onto the one I assume to be their leader. His commanding presence and the way the others seem to follow his lead make it obvious
“Alpha Lucian, you have trespassed on our territory. You have no right to demand anything from us,” he says, his eyes burning with hate. But I have no time to entertain him. Before he can even blink, I’m already in front of him, my hand gripping his neck. Almost immediately, guns are raised higher, and the tension in the air thickens.
“Get me the girl, 1 growl, my eyes darkening to an inky black. Even without Theron, I am still powerful enough to end his pathetic little life with just a flick of my fingers.
“O–or what? This isn’t your territory. Alpha Lacun. You’re outnumbered here. Even if you kill me, you can’t kill everyone,” the bastard manages to
choke out.
I tighten my grip on his neck, my voice dropping into a dangerous whisper. “Want to be?”
“Stand down!” someone yells, but I don’t bother turning to see who it is. The sound of a gun being cocked reaches my ears, but before the shot can tire, Elijah slufts into a brown wolf and lunges at the mais stopping him just in time.
1 turn to see Elijah growling meratingly, his fangs dangerously close to tearing into the person beneath him. A smirk togs at my lips. “I can’t kill everyone, but I can kill two or three of your men before anyone has the chance to stop me,”
“You are making a mistake, Alpha Locian,” he gasps out before giving a low command to his men.
“When he kills me, attack and dory’t hold back. He was the first to shed blood-” He doesn’t get to fish his sentence as my frown deepens, and so does my grip. He’s not going to do what I want, so I might as well end him.
Just as the man before me begins to squirm, his eyes widen. One second later, he’s on the brink of death.
“Tin’t that a bit disrespectful, Luciant Killing my men on my territory! Even if we don’t like each other, let’s be civilized, shall we?
My gaze snaps to the voice, and when I see the scene before me, a guttural grow escapes my throat. Without a second thought, I release my grip on the neck am holding and lunge at Damien, but the sinug bastard smirks and sidesteps me like he’s dodging a toddler with a stick.
Before I can recover, he’s behind me, moving like a damn blur, still casually holding Elara over his shoulder like she’s some kind of oversized sack of potatoes.
I spin around, ready to strike again, but he moves effortlessly out of my reach. I hear Elara gasp in fear, and as she punches him, he watches me

with a purposeful smirk before casually placing his hand on her butt and giving it a playful spank
Elara gasps, and my eyes harden. I will kill him for laying a hand on her. Damien, seeing my expression, instantly bursts out laughing clearly enjoving every moment of it
“I’ve never seen you this angry before,” he says between laughs. “It’s a rare sight compared to your usual composed self. But I have to admit, I do love seeing you react like this.
I step forward, a low growl numbling in my chest. “Let her go, or I’ll make you regret the day you were ever born.”
Damien grins, clearly amused. “Oh, come on, I’m just having a bit of fun! You’re taking this all too seriously, Can’t you just enjoy the show?”
I take a step closer, my voice dark and dangerous. I have no time for his silly jokes. “She is mine, Damien. Do you really want to start a war you can’t
ven fish?”
Damien’s grim falters for just a moment, but then he shrugs, unfazed by my threat. He tilts his head, his eyes cold now, as he speaks with a sharp edge. “You keep forgetting one thing. Lucian. The girl you are asking for is my mate”
