Chapter 28
Elara
“Look at her, here to become Luna. If the doesn’t want to be Luna like she said, can’t she just reject the Alpha?” someone whispers, staring daggers
“Yeah, I bet it’s because she’s scared for her life–doesn’t want to reject him in case she dies. Pathetic” Another voice adds.
“No! I’m not scared! I really am not! I can reject the Alpha!” I yell, puffing my chest out dramatically. I turn to Damien, whose eyes widen in shock.
“Are you really going to reject me?” He asks, sounding almost hurt.
I scoff, throwing my head back with a laugh. “Of course! 1, Flara, reject-”
“N–no, please don’t do this. Please, don’t reject me!” Damien pleads, panic creeping into his voice but I only scoff at him. I am going to reject him, it doesn’t matter if I die or not but 1 am going to reject him.
I sneer and plant my hands on my hips with an air of arrogance “I reject you, Alpha Damien, as my—”
Suddenly, I freeze as warmth trickles down my lips, a wetness that makes me pause in confusion
“Why is blood coming out of my mouth?” I gasp, panie rising in my chest. “Why am I bleeding?” My hand instinctively clutches my chest, the world spinning around me.
Damien lets out a heavy sigh, his gare flicking to me
to me with a hint of indifference. “Well, looks like she’s done for. Clean up the mess and bury her somewhere out of sight. He turns away without a second glance, watching as my lifeless body is carried off.
“Wait Wait! I don’t want to die!” I cry, my voice trembling, but Damien doesn’t even flinch
“Hmph, well, you shouldn’t have rejected me, he mutters under his breath, as if this is all somehow my fault.
Knock knock.
I groan and roll over in bed, pulling the covers tighter around me, desperately trying to block out the relentless knocking on the door.
But it only
“I don’t want to die. I really don’t want to die.“I whisper to myself, half–asleep, clinching the edge of the duvet tighter. But the sound doesn’t stop. This time, it’s loud enough to jolt me out of whatever ridiculous dream I am having
My eyes snap open, and I sit up, staring blankly at the space in front of me, trying to process the nightmare that’s still lingering in my mind. Then -knock knock. I freeze. Someone’s outside the room.
1 spring out of bed, my disheveled hair flying around and blocking my vision, I swipe my hand through the mess
Before me stands a row of raids, lined up
ess of locs and quickly swing the door
nearly
along the hallway. Their heads are bowed in submission, and I can’t help
elp but raise an eyebrow
I glance down at what they’re holding–various clothes and shoes, none of which I can quite understand. They’re clutched tightly in their hands.
Dresses, shorts, jeans, tops, heels, even a pair of canvas shoes, and cosmetics. A whole wardrobe. What on earth is going on?
The elderly lady in front of them lifts her head slightly, offering a polite smile. “Good morning, madam. My name is Agatha, and I’m the head maid of the packhouse. I am at your service”
“At your service!” I manage to find my
y voice, my confusion clear. She nods in reply
“Yes, madarn. The Alpha gave orders yesterday that I am to serve you directly from now on. And since you’re starting work at the hospital tomorrow and don’t have many clothes, I’ve brought several outlies for you” Her eyes quickly sean me before she nods again. “It seems I’ve brought the right size,” she adds
I find myself staring in confusion. Damien ordered his head maid to serve me? But why?
Yesterday, I had reluctantly accepted Martha’s proposal to start working at the hospital. I was hesitant at first, since I hadn’t worked as a doctor in a while, but the promised I’d start slow. If I know what I was doing and enjoyed it. I could stay.
Not long after she left, someone case in and informed me that my room was ready, and I couldn’t contain my relief at finally escaping Damien’s room. But before I could even take more than a couple of steps, I was told that this would be my room from now on.
Extra Check-
Chapter 28
Yes, a room directly next to Damien’s. His sister is truly devious
I wanted to complain yesterday, but I held back the words and obediently stepped into my new room.
“Madam,” Agatha’s voice cuts through my thoughts, and I blink, shaking myself out of my daze before finally fineling my voice
“Ah, yes–thank you. My name is Elara, and I appreciate this.” I say, my voice steady and poised, my back instinctively straightening.
Agatha studies me for a moment before nodding in approval. “Of course, madam. Whatever you wish, I am at your beck and call.”
I’m about to tell her she doesn’t need to do that, but 1 freeze when she suddenly claps her hands. The maids, who had been quietly standing by until now, all straighten up at once, their eyes fixed on ine

“Prepare me?!” I blurt out, but Agatha and the maids have already entered the room. I spin around, trying to stop them, wanting to say that I can do it myself. Back at the Moontang pack, even as Luna, I did everything on my own. The sudden presence of these people wanting to do things for me makes me uncomfortable.
The maids don’t listen but instead continues with their tasks. Some arrange the bed, others take care of the clothes, dust the room, and sweep the floor. Most importantly, they completely ignore me!
“I—please stop-”
Agatha turns to me with that professional smile, arms crossed, her posture perfectly poised as she looks at me, sending a shiver down my spine.
“shall we go to the bathroom together, madam, so I can assist with your bath?” she asks. I stare at her, wide–eyed, unable to believe the words spilling from her mouth.
No, no, hell to the no!
I cover my chest and refuse, my face turning bright red in an instant.
“I refuse,” I shake my head. There is no way I’m letting someone bathe ine, especially not when l’im not a child. Besides, she’ll see everything
Agatha’s smile doesn’t waver, and I take a shaky breath, a sinking feeling cropping up on me. Something tells me I can’t refuse.
Mintues later, as Agatha leads me toward the dining hall, where Damien and the others are apparently caring breakfast, I grip the fabric of my red dress tighter, bating my bottom lip. The sound of my heels clicking against the floor echoes in the quiet hallway as I follow her
Yes, she did all of this. She bathed me, dressed me in this red dress and heels, and even went as far as applying my makeup,
I have to admit, she’s good at what she does. I’ve never looked this polished before, and truth be told, I rarely wear makeup or dress this well. Now that I’m in it, I can’t help but feel self–conscious, my every move under scrutiny.
I steal a quick glance at her, but she doesn’t look back. Instead, she stops in front of a door, turning to me with a soft bow.
“You may enter, madam. Everyoor is wanting for y
“you” she says, her tone perfectly respectful.
1 nod, taking a shaky breath, feeling the weight of the moment. The guards standing by the door give me a brief glance before opening it with a quiet creak

I tell myself, steeling my nerves. I take a few steps into the room, but before I can go any further. I freeze in place. My breath catches in my throat, and I feel all eyes on me as the entire room falls silent
When Azatha mentioned I’d be eating with Damien and his family, I assumed it would just be Martha and her mate.
It’s the entire pack council!
Damien looks up from the conversation he was having, and our gazes meet. I freeze, my heart pounding in my chest, as
