Chapter 31
“Do you really mean it?” His voice is low, almost teasing, but there’s an undeniable edge to it. He holds me closer against him until there isn’t any space between us left. I can feel my heart pounding in my chest, an heat I can’t control spreading between my legs
I open my mouth, but the words get stuck in my throat. How am I supposed to answer lum! That I meant everything I said in the dining hall
“Answer me, did you mean what you said about not wanting to be my luna, you really don’t mind me choosing Isabella as my luna, hm?” he demands softly, his lips curling into a smile that doesn’t quite reach his eyes.
I swallow, trying to steady myself, but the proximity is dizzying. I can feel him pressing me harder against the wall, the hem of my dress inching higher, and my body flash against his. His lips are just inches away from mine and I can practically taste them already.
“1. I meant everything I said earlier,” I stammer, my voice barely above a whisper.
His smile widens, and his eyes sparkle with a dangerous glini.
“Then tell me, litle mate. Why do I smell your arousal!”
“Miss Elara, the previous Luna of the Moonfang Pack. I’ve heard so much about you, the man says, his eyes locking onto mine, I stiffen under his gaze, feeling the weight of it settle over me
The way he looks at me is unsettling–there’s no hostility, unlike the other elders, but an empty gaze, paired with a slight smile that sends a chill down my spine.
This man makes me nervous
Good morning. Elder,” I say, my voice betraying my nerves as I bow slightly. I don’t ask how he knows me by now, everyone must have heard about the former Luna of the Moonfang Pack
“Ronan, I am Isabella’s father,” he says, and I glance at Isabella, who gives a slight bow in greeting.
“Greetings, we’ve met before in the garden,” she says smoothly, her eyes never blinking, as if this is just another normal exchange. The whispering of the elders grows louder, and I can feel every pair of eyes now onus.
“Greetings, my name is Elara,” I reply, my voice much less composed than Isabella’s
Yesterday, 1 had ran away suddenly after nearly rejecting Damien She is Damien’s fiancee, and honestly, it’s a little awkward sitting here and eating
with her
Damien must have noticed my discomfort, because his voice cuts through the rising chatter “Since Elara is now here, let’s begin our food and we can all talk after we’re done with our meal” His voice is much deeper, rolder, and far more authoritative than Fm used to, which takes me by
surprise
Everyone unmediately falls silent, bowing in submission. Before I can blink, Damien adds with a smile, his eyes narrowing as he scans everyone seated “We’ve been speaking for a while; we don’t want our meal to get cold, do wel”
Ronan’s gaze flickers toward Damien, the slight smile still on his face, but he doesn’t press any further. “Of course, Alpha” he says, historie neutral. “I was simply making conversation.
I can see Damien fighting the urge to roll his eyes, but instead of saying anything, he rests his head on his hand and turns to me with a wink. This
- e. I’m the one who fights the urge to roll my eyes.
“Ear, Elara. The fish tastes really good, Martha mutters beside me. I nod and pick up my spoon, reluctantly starting to eat.
What kind of situation is thos
It’s the most awkward moment I’ve ever experienced. The relentless glances in my direction are impossible to ignore. It’s as if they’re all dying to say something but don’t dare to because of Damien’s earlier command. So here I sit, trying–and failing–to act like I don’t notice.
After the meal, the staff enters in a neat, orderly manner, clearing the plates from the table. Just as I think the tension might finally ease, one of the elders seated beside Damien clears his throat and starts to speak.

Chapter 31
Hat before he can get a word nut, Damien ruts him off, his voice calm but firm..
“Regarding the discussion about the position of the new Luna” Tumien begins casually, leaning back in his chair, legs crossed, his sharp gaze sweeping over the room. “T’ve made my choice, and I still intend to name my mate. Elara, for that position.”
What! My mouth drops open in shock. Discussion about the Luna position? Me as the Luna?!
The room erupts
“Alpha“” the elders call out in unison, their voices filled with disapproval.
“Alpha, we cannot agree to this,” one elder speaks louder than the rest, his face tight with anger. “She was the former Luna of that dreadful pack, and—what’s more she attempted to poison her own sister! How can we allow a woman like her to take the title of Luna?”
Lierze as everyone’s judging gares land on me–accusing me of a crime I didn’t commit, a crime that everyone seems so certain I’m guilty of. No matter how many times I tell myself that I don’t care what they think, it’s easier said than done
I keep my head down, Inting my bottom lip, but suddenly, a warm hand reaches out to me under the table. I glance up to see Martha glaring at the elder who spoke, her expression sharp and unwavering
“There isn’t any definitive proof to that claim,” Martha says Brmly, her voice cutting through the murmurs. “I believe it’s nothing more than baseless rumors. And we all know how that pack operates–what if she was framed instead? Do not throw around accusations without proof, or you’ll be held accountable for it later.”
I blink at her in surprise as Lucas, her mate, nods in agreement.
“She’s right,” Lucas adds calmly, though his tone leaves no room for argument. “It is custom for the Alpha to choose his mate as Luna. That bond strengthens the Alpha and the pack. Let’s not forget our traditions, and let’s discuss this marter in a civilized way.”
The room falls silent for a moment, tensson lingering thick in the air.
“But–but I heard she’s a useless omega,” the same elder stammers, his voice laced with disdain. “She doesn’t even have a wolf. How can a worthless
Crack!
Everyone immediately falls silent, no one daring to breathe. The elder who had spoken moments earlier collapses to the ground with a deafening thud, his head rolling to a stop just beside his lifeless body.
I can’t move, can’t even breathe, as I stare in stunned silence, Damien stands calmly, watching the man’s body without a flicker of emotion. Slowly, he picks up a handkerchief from the table and methodically wipes the blood from his hands, the white cloth staining red.
No one saw him move. He was just a blur—100 fast to follow. It wasn’t until the sickening sound echoed through the room that anyone realized what had happened:
He’s fast. Much faster than he was with Lucian
The thought sends a shiver down my spine. If he didn’t show his full strength when fighting Lucian.. then this–this ruthless display–was Damien
at has most lethal
100 durespectful and far too noisy Damien says with a dry chaickle, tossing the bloodied handkerchief onto the lifeless body. He shifts his attention to the room, his gaze sweeping over everyone. Instantly, they how their heads in submission.
Except me
Only I remain frozen, unable to tear my eyes away from the scene or look down like the others.
“Does anyone che have something to say about my decision?” Damien asks, his tone deceptively light but carrying an edge that chills the air,
Silence
I glance toward Roman and Isabella. Neither of them moves, their heads bowed like the rest. Yet, I catch it–a subtle flicker of fear in their otherwise
stole expressions.
“Alright” Damien beams suddenly, clapping his hands together. “That sendes it, then Since no one disagrees, my mate will be
“I disagree”
The words tumble out of my mouth before I can stop them, and I freeze.
