Chapter 36
Lindsey watched Quinn with a cold gaze, then suddenly smiled faintly. “Miss Quinn, just because you’ve seen the darker side of humanity, do you think everyone is evil?”
“What do you mean?” Quinn’s expression changed, her intense gaze fixed on Lindsey.
“I know you’ve been wronged,” Lindsey said calmly.
Quinn’s eyes widened, and she tightened her grip on the doorframe, her voice strained. “What do you know?”
Lindsey glanced inside the messy apartment and chuckled, “Are you really sure you want to discuss this here at the door?”
Quinn stepped aside, letting Lindsey in. She rummaged around and found a cup, washing it multiple times before pouring some water for Lindsey. “It’s messy here. Sorry about that.”
Lindsey looked around and nodded, confirming it was indeed pretty messy.
The floor was littered with beer bottles, the corners piled high with moldy takeout boxes, and the couch was nearly swallowed by socks and dirty clothes, leaving hardly any place to sit.
Quinn cleared a small spot on the couch, making it at least somewhat usable for Lindsey.
Quinn was obviously on edge. As soon as Lindsey sat down, she couldn’t help but blurt, “What do you know, Lindsey?”
Lindsey thought back to the news reports from her past life and slowly replied, “You’re involved in something sinister with Zella, right? She paid off that couple and your former manager, who leaked your schedule, while Zella directed that couple to stage the cheating scene.”
Unlike typical dramas, this couple Zella hired were social media influencers, with the guy having an effeminate charm, attracting many fans.
In this ordeal, Quinn was not just the other woman but also the one who used coercive tactics on the guy.
So the repercussions were catastrophic.
In her past life, Quinn’s fate had worsened due to this incident. After it happened, she fell into a deep alcoholism and eventually died alone in this shabby apartment.
After the scandal, the couple faced anxiety and disillusionment, resulting in a lot of strife between them. In their arguments, the truth about the
situation came out.
Once Lindsey finished speaking, Quinn sat frozen in shock.
However, her body trembled with agitation, and a moment later, she looked at Lindsey with fierce intensity. “If it’s not too forward, how does Ms. Riley know about this?”
Lindsey hesitated. Revealing her rebirth was out of the question. Ultimately, she settled for a half–hearted excuse. “L… deduced it.”
Quinn’s spark of hope faded in an instant. She waved her hand dismissively. “Never mind, please leave, Ms. Riley.”
Lindsey felt unsatisfied. “But I can help you gather evidence, Trust me, you’ll clear your name in no time!”
“In no time? I’ve spent ages trying to convince people I’m innocent, and you think you can do it?” Quinn chuckled bitterly.
Lindsey stayed still, biting her lip. “Just give me a month.”
Quinn turned to her, incredulous. “A month? Ms. Riley, are you delusional?”
Frustrated, Lindsey slammed a prepared contract on the table. “Sign this, and I’ll work to clear your name within a month. If not, then you can keep wallowing in self–pity.”
She took a gamble that Quinn wouldn’t let this chance slip away.
Sure enough, the look on Quinn’s face shifted. She studied Lindsey closely. “You really want to sign with me?”
“What other choice do you have?” Lindsey shot back, raising an eyebrow.
Quinn sighed, straightforward as always. “My reputation is in shambles right now. If you lose money on me, I’m not responsible.”

After saying that, she scrawled her name on the contract.
Lindsey smiled, her eyes glinting. “Now that’s the Quinn I know.”
Then, she furrowed her brow as she surveyed the junk–strewn room. “By the way, do you have any money left? Think you should consider a new place to stay…”
“You don’t need to worry about that,” Quinn reassured her. “I used to be a popular star, and I still have a little cash left. Once I clean this place up, find somewhere else to stay and will send you the new address.”
Lindsey nodded, relieved that she wouldn’t have to stress over it.
After leaving Quinn’s apartment, Lindsey pulled out a map of Jovencia. Where should she buy a villa?
It needed to be secluded, but not too far away or else it would be inconvenient to travel. After some time, she circled several areas.
Lindsey rubbed her head, feeling indecisive. Finally, she dialed Shawn’s number without thinking too much about it.
It was strange that she even thought of calling him, but her fingers moved instinctively.
In a large conference room, Shawn was immersed in a meeting, with the nervous sales manager reporting on the latest figures.
The manager glanced at Shawn from time to time, terrified that he might slip up and provoke Shawn, the so–called “big boss.”
Suddenly, the sound of a phone vibrating echoed through the room. The sales manager’s face went pale, and he abruptly stopped speaking, swallowing hard at the unexpected interruption.

Cold sweat was pouring down the manager’s forehead. Everyone in this meeting was supposed to have their phones silenced, so who dared to break the rules?
Before he could ponder it further, Shawn picked up his phone, a smirk flashing across his face. “Alright, that concludes today’s meeting.”
Shawn announced, rising to leave the room. The room was left in silence, with everyone exchanging bewildered glances.
The sales manager blinked in disbelief; had Shawn just smiled? The notorious ice king actually cracked a smile?
Once back in his office, Shawn heard Lindsey’s soft voice on the line. “Hey, Shawn, do you know anything about real estate?”
“Not bad,” he replied casually.
“Could you recommend something? I’m feeling a bit lost here.”
With a chuckle, without a second thought, Shawn listed a few names, “Queribia, Sauneasvale, and Guathio. They’re all pretty good options.”
Of course, he mentioned those places because he had investments in them.
Lindsey marked them on her map, her face lighting up when she found that Guathio was on her shortlist too. She immediately ordered a ride there.
After checking out the surroundings, Lindsey felt satisfied. The villa not only had a lovely garden but also featured an artificial lake. The one she picked was in the farthest corner of the neighborhood, nestled against a mountain. It was fantastic!
Excitedly, she recorded a video and sent it to both Mr. Grier and Z, asking for their opinions.
Once they gave her their affirmation, she made her final decision and signed the purchase contract.
But this way, her wallet was quite a bit lighter. Lindsey sighed; it seemed like she’d have to push her fashion designer career into overdrive again.
She sent a message to her assistant, Fritz, telling him to take on any orders that came in.
Then she settled in to wait for Z.. It was an hour and a half before Z finally showed up.
Seeing Lindsey’s worried expression, Z scoffed lightly. “If you don’t have the means, don’t take on a big project. How much short are you? I’m sitting on just over a million, but that’s my limit.
