Sheila pulled her hand back, unwillingly. “Mom, I really like this bracelet. Can you not take it away?” She looked displeased.
Olivia, however, was firm. “Are you stupid? You can’t get what you want without giving something up. What’s more important, a bracelet or the shares in Luminova?”
She snatched the bracelet from Sheila’s hand.
“By the way, you’ve been keeping an eye on Lindsey recently, right? Ever since her bank card got frozen, she hasn’t reacted. Something doesn’t feel right,” Olivia added.
Sheila nodded, though her eyes remained glued to the bracelet.
Shawn had just left a meeting with a business partner and was heading to the underground parking lot when he heard a faint noise around him.
He frowned, stopped in his tracks, and the noise immediately disappeared. A smile tugged at his lips. Looked like someone was getting impatient.
He continued walking casually, pretending nothing had happened. Suddenly, a few men dressed as bodyguards jumped out of the shadows, surrounding him.
One of them held a brown bundle in his hand. It looked like… a sack?
Shawn couldn’t help but laugh. Who would be so pathetic, attacking someone with a sack?
Without hesitation, he sprang into action, kicking one guard after another. They quickly recovered and fought back, but the skirmish ended as quickly as it started.
Shawn ignored the scattered men on the ground and focused on a car parked nearby. “Jayden, since you’re here, why don’t you come out and talk?” he called out.
Jayden froze, then reluctantly got out of the car. “Clap, clap, clap!” Jayden clapped his hands. “Nice moves. I underestimated you.”
But there was no admiration in his tone–only a chilling coldness. This man was tougher than Jayden had expected.
Shawn lowered his gaze, his voice barely above a whisper. “You’ve got guts.” A powerful, almost suffocating aura radiated from him, making Jayden feel a sharp, sudden pressure in his chest.
Jayden steadied himself. ‘Is this guy really just some ordinary thug?‘ he wondered.
But then he pushed the thought aside. He knew everyone in the elite circles of Jovencia, and no one had heard of this man. He’d even done some digging but found no powerful backing behind him. So, this was just some show.
With that, Jayden gained confidence. He raised his chin, adopting a superior tone. “So, how much do you want to leave Lindsey alone?”
‘Shawn has been close to Lindsey for money!’ Jayden thought and would pay him off to keep him away.
Shawn’s eyes darkened as he stared at Jayden. After a long pause, he smiled, “How much do you think is enough?”
Jayden grinned, smugly. “So you really are after money! What a scumbag. You don’t deserve to be with her. 600 thousand dollars. Take the money and leave.
Shawn nodded, still smiling. “Alright, 600 thousand dollars. But I’ll throw in a little extra. How about 1.2 million dollars? And you’re not allowed to bother Lindsey again.
The air seemed to freeze.
Jayden’s eyes narrowed. He felt insulted by Shawn’s mocking smile. “1.2 million dollars? You think you can afford that?”
‘Shawn is clearly bluffing, he thought.
Shawn, however, wasn’t in a hurry. He waved his hand behind him. His assistant, Phillip, emerged from a corner, holding a check.
“1.2 million dollars. Keep your hands off Lindsey, Shawn repeated coldly.

With a sneer, Jayden ripped the check to shreds.
Shawn and Phillip were speechless.
Without a word, Shawn turned and walked away. He had already given the money; how Jayden dealt with it was none of his concern.
But in Jayden’s eyes, Shawn’s departure was a sign of being caught in a lie. The act was over, and now the man was too embarrassed to stay.
Back in his car, Jayden asked the person sitting in the backseat, “Did you get it all on tape?”
The person gave him an OK gesture.
A wicked smile slowly curled on Jayden’s lips. Tomorrow, Lindsey would finally know what kind of person her boyfriend really was.
For the past few days, Olivia had been trying to frame Lindsey using that bracelet, but Lindsey had been holed up in her room. Even meals were brought to her by Donna. She had no chance to make a move.
When the doorbell rang, Olivia hurriedly instructed Sheila to open it.
“Jayden, what brings you here?” Sheila asked, stepping aside to let him in. As she did, her hand brushed against Jayden’s leg, and he subtly took hold of her hand in return.
The brief, intimate exchange sent a flutter through Sheila.
Olivia quickly stepped forward. “Jayden, I’m guessing you’re here to see Lindsey? I’ll call her down.”
Jayden stopped her. “Ms. Jennings, bring Mr. Riley down too. I have something to discuss.”
Olivia was confused but nodded.
When Lindsey was called down, she was clearly annoyed. She had been working on Z’s USB drive in her room. With just a little more time, she was sure she could crack the problem.
She probably inherited Elaine’s excellent genes–she picked things up incredibly fast. In just this short period, she had already solved about a quarter of the challenges on the USB drive.
Jayden noticed Lindsey’s mood but didn’t care. She would thank him soon enough.
Anthony settled onto the sofa as Olivia served tea to the group.
“Jayden, if you’ve got something to say, just say it. We’re all family here,” Anthony said, still in his usual obsequious manner.
Jayden bit his lip, looking a bit troubled. He turned to Lindsey. “Lindsey, are you sure you really like your current boyfriend?”
At these words, Lindsey’s suspicions were immediately aroused. What was Jayden up to now?
She nodded calmly. “Of course, I like him. That’s why we’re together.”
“But do you know what kind of person he really is?” Jayden pressed, his tone growing more intense.
Lindsey blinked. “Of course I know. We’re a couple. Isn’t it normal to know each other well?”
“Then do you know he’s only with you for the money?” Jayden’s voice dropped coldly.
“What do you mean?” Lindsey frowned.
Jayden pulled out his phone, opened a video, and played it for her.
The video showed his confrontation with Shawn in the underground parking lot.
Jayden asked, “How much do you want to leave Lindsey alone?”
Shawn said, “How much do you think is enough?”
Jayden said, “So you really are after money! What a scumbag. You don’t deserve to be with her. 600 thousand dollars. Take the money and leave.”
