Chapter 76
Leonardo De Luca
1 glanced in the direction that Russo just left to take the call, still hearing his voice in the other part of the house. My hand raised and I gripped her chin gently, tilting her head to mine.
“I told you that I’d keep you safe and I will. I always will
“What if you’re only doing this because my father used me for payment.” She mumbles, keeping her plump lips apart
grunt and TESISE the urge to kiss them given the importance of her question. I needed to assure her that that was far from the reason.
“I don’t give a damn about that. I made you a promise and that’s something I intend to keep regardless of how you got here.” I say with heavy sincerity.
Her eyes twinkle against the kitchen spotlights. Russo’s voice came closer and I grabbed my cup and stood up from the stool.
That’s alright Mr Archibald. I’ll send over everything you need as soon as possible.” He said cheerily as he entered the kitchen again.
I finished my cup of coffee and placed it on the counter, Russo disconnects the call. “So?” Alessia asked.
“It’s yours. Al” He grins.
“Really?” She stood up from the counter to meet him.
He hums in agreement. “Yeah. He said he’d accept the offer. I just got to complete some paperwork and then it’s move–in day. Might take a week or
“A week?” Her eyes lit up.
I could hear something like worry in her voice. “Are you excited to leave?”
“I am! The sooner I get to live with Isabella!” She wraps her arms around her brother excitedly.
“Thank you for sorting this
s all out. I appreciate it.”
He hugs her back, lowering to her small height. “I want you to have all the protection you can get
They pulled away from each other and Alessia went back to lean on the counter.
“So now we need to sort out the security details. Whatever you need, whatever you want is there.”
Alessia’s smile grew and even though she seemed excited about it, I knew she was also feeling a little anxious about the whole ordeal. I already knew I would be visiting her often because I didn’t think I would be able to get by without her feisty side.
Alessia’s eyes meet mine and I nod in her direction. “Congratulations on being a homeowner,” I say.
A pink tint coats her cheeks and she goes back to her original position. Russo grabbed the laptop beside her. “Order whatever you want” He says, “Put it on my card. I don’t think I’ve ever done that for you
“Are you sure?” She blinks in disbelief.
“Of course.” He ruffled her hair
ir like she was still fifteen years old.
She slapped his hand off playfully and her shoulders raised in response. “You’re the best!”
I could remember clearly when she stole my credit card to do some expensive shopping without my knowledge. But her brother is the best!
I flicked my eyes between the pair of them. If Husso is going to let her get whatever she wants, then I need to think of the best moving–in present to

Chapter 76
“What do you think, Al?” Russo asks as we walk through the front door of the new house.
habella had earlier called me to check out the house for both of us. According to her, it was okay if it was okay for me. That girl!
The house seemed different and quirky, to say the least. It’s not huge but still not crammed at the same time.
The furniture would be turning up later today and Russo already ordered a van to transport everything from the house so we can settle it with ease.
I turned to my brother and smiled. “It’s great” I say “We’ll make it feel like home.”
“Exactly.” He nods and strolls towards me with his arms folded over his chest. “I know it’s going to be hard to adjust at first but it’s for the best. You know that right?”
My lips purse and I press them down into each other. I nodded and then hooked my hands together behind my back. “Of course, I know it’s for the best. I’m just going to miss living at the house.”
His eyes widened dramatically. “Oh really? Are you?”
1 laughed out loud, swatting him on the shoulders. “Yeah. I’ve been in the house every day for the past few months, I’ve gotten used to it now. I might have experienced some bad things there but I still became accustomed to it.”
Russo’s eyes roamed my face slowly. “This is what is best right now though. A place that is isolated and away from the public eye, not associated with any of us, and untraceable, I’ve been talking with the security firm and they’ll soon be installing security cameras around the house. Leonardo is going after potential bodyguards.”
“Leonardo is going after potential bodyguards?” I asked as I blinked in confusion. It sounded strange to me that he’d ever opt to do that seeing the look on his face when Russo suggested it.
“Yeah.” He chuckles. “He said he wanted to be actively involved in some way and that he knows some good people.”
I felt the pang in my heart at the lengths the men in my life would go to keep me safe. I’m going to miss running into them every second of the day.
Those late nights with Leo in his office, when I’d make some silly comments just to get under his skin in hopes of getting a punishment I chewed on my lip. I didn’t understand how it would work because I already knew I’d miss him so badly. I can’t just wait for the issue with Landon to be over and done with.
Russo dragged his eyes from his phone and poked his head through the window. “Ah, the van with your things is here.” He said and we walked outside to greet the man transporting the stuff.
