Chapter 45
Lucian
My vision blurs, and I quickly grip the edge of the couch to support myself, trying to prevent myself from falling to the ground. The pounding in my head feels suffocating, relentless. I chatch my head with both hands and stagger while struggling to maintain my balance as waves of dizziness
crash over me.
The voices. They’re gnawing at my mind, pushing me to the edge.
“Get out get out!” I rasp, my words coming out as a strained, breathless whisper.
“I know what you want. You want to kill Damien. You want to kill that bastard for doubting you. For abandoning you. For taking your woman away.”
“No…
no, you’re wrong. Get out of my head!” I groan, my grip tightening as I try to resist the pull. The voices were urging me toward violence, to do things I shouldn‘

“N–no. it’s not trie… it’s not true, I choke out, shaking my head in denial, but the voice only laughs, low and menacing.
“Oh, but it is, Lucian. You know it is. And when you finally lose control… I’ll be here to fulfill all your darkest desires.”
A gasp escapes my lips as those words hit me. My legs buckle, and I collapse to the ground, unable to hold it in anymore.

“I grit my teeth, desperately fighting against the force threatening to consume me, but deep down, I know this is a battle I can’t win. Another wave crashes into me, more powerful than before, and my body jerks backward uncontrollably. My head snaps back, and all I can see is red as the last shred of control slips from my grasp.
“Oh but dear, Lucian. You know it is, deep down. You know it is and I am going to fulfil your wish this time around too”
I watch helplessly as the thing controlling my body rises, its head tilting slightly to the side as it lets out a chilling laugh. It stretches out its claws and begins walking toward the door.
“Damn it, I curse under my breath, struggling desperately to regain control, but it’s useless. The force pinning me down is too strong. I need to fight back—1 have to or else another disaster will unfold, all because of me.
Another mistake, another tragedy, all over again.
Just like how my father killing Damien’s parents was my fault. Just like rejecting Elara and losing my unborn child. And now, this thing compelling me will force my hand into something unforgivable.
I can’t let him kill Damien

“What happened” Why couldn’t I communicate or reach you anymore?” I ask, my voice trembling slightly.
Theron remains quiet for a moment before finally replying. “The rejection and the way you treated our mate affected me. I almost went dormant forever.
how could it affect us like that? Elara isn’t our mate,” I respond, confusion lacing my words. I can sense that he’s just as uncertain as I am.
““I don’t know,” he admits after a pause, “llut you need to get Elara back. Being near her gives me strength”
His words make me
me narrow my eyes. “I will need to stop this thing, I can’t let him kill Damien I say firmly.
“I’ll give you the strength to fight it. Theron says before pausing for a brief moment, but you need to be careful of someone, someone is making you react this way and I think it is-“His voice cuts off abruptly, and the comforting presence of him vanishes entirely.

But not before a surge of warmth flows through me, filling me with newfound strength.
I watch as the thing grips the door, attempting to open it. The corner of my lips tilts up in a cold smirk, my eyes narrowing with disdain. How dare you invade my body without permission? How dare you think you have the right to control me?

Blood splatters from its mouth as it drops to its knees, writhing and struggling against my resistance. It fights to regain control, but I refuse to yield. With one final, determined push, I break the force trapping me in place.
“This isn’t over, trust me, Lucian. I will-
“Yeah, yeah, whatever, I mutter, opening my eyes as a slight smirk tugs at my lips. “Next time you try to take control, I’ll end you right then and
