Chapter 57
Elara
The silence in the room is suffocating as I watch Isabella thank Eva, the young nurse. Eva blushes, placing the tea on the desk before offering a quick bow and leaving the office. Suddenly, it’s just babella and me alone.
1 quickly avert my gaze when she shifts her attention to me, but despite my attempt to look away, I can feel her eyes on me–narrowing, studying me with an intensity that makes me feel both hot and nervouLE,
What do I say to her? I don’t know. I want to apologize, to swear that I had no idea about this whole new Luna situation, I want to tell her the truth
that I never wanted any of this, that I want to reject Damien, but if I do, I’ll die. Maybe I should just start by saying something to break this awkward silence first.
“I want to say I open my mouth to speak but freeze when my eyes meet hers. The amused look in her eyes catches me off guard. The corners of her lips tilt up into a small smile. My breath catches in my throat, and I can’t tear my gaze away from her. My mouth opens and closes, but no words come out as I struggle to force them past the lump in
And then like the idiot I am, 1 begin choking on absolutely nothing. Great I just have to find a way to embarrass myself at every turn,
“Are you okay?” Isabella quickly jumps to her feet when she notices, handing me her tea. “Here, drink it slowly, it’s

She begins to speak, but I don’t hear her words as I desperately gulp down the entire cup in one go. My eyes widen in horror as the hot liquid burns my throat, and I gag, my face turning bright red.
Oh my goddess.
“Oh my, are you okay? That’s quite hot,” she asks but I can only close my eyes and nod quickly, trying to stop myself from reacting to the burning pain in my throat.
“Are you sure! Should I ask for water?” she presses, her tone even more worried. I shake my head, not trusting myself to speak just yet, and instead, I silently wave my hand at the offer, hoping and praying the ground would just swallow me whole entirely
“I’m fine-“I say, my voice barely above a whisper, as I thump my chest with my palm, hoping to ease the bum but then 1 freeze when something happens. Something I didn’t expect.
Isabella suddenly bursts out laughing, her head tilting back as her laughter fills the air, I inhale sharply, mesmerized by the vibrant sound echoing through the room, like a melody that dances in my ears.
I sit there, frozen, unable to tear my gaze away from her. She is beautiful. And I mean that not in the way that makes my heart race against my chest as I watch her, mesmerized by her beauty,

Anyone can tell that Isabella is a very beautiful woman. She carries herself with an energy that radiates elegance, yet there’s a hint of a tomboy vibe in the way she dresses. I’ve only met her twice, and both times, her short hair frames her face perfectly, adding to that effortlessly chic look. It’s not just her appearance, though. There’s something about her–something I can’t quite put my finger on–that draws me in, making it hard to look away, especially from her lips.
“Are you okay? You’re looking a bit red right now,” Isabella says, tapping my shoulder and pulling me from my thoughts.
I blink and gas, quickly looking away, feeling as if I’ve been caught in the art of something I shouldn’t have been doing
“Y–yes, I’m fine,” I stammer, trying to recover. “I’m sorry for wasting your time, especially since you came all the way here. It must be important.”1 gesture to the chair across from me.
For a moment, her eyes narrow slightly, and I catch a fleeting expression of sadness. But just as quickly, it vanishes, replaced by the calm, composed
demeanor
“Yes, my apologies for coming unannounced,” she says, taking a seat and crossing her legs with a graceful motion. “But I do have something important to discuss with you.”.
I know what she’s about to say—she’s probably here to demand an explanation about the Luna situation. But then, her next words completely
shocks me.
“The last time we spoke, I told you I didn’t love the Alpha. So now, I’ve come to ask you: Do you love him or do you simply want to be Luna?”
Her question catches me off guard and I raise an eyebrow in confusion.

Chapter 57
“What do you meant Is that really what you came here to ask me?” I ask, my voice wavering slightly. She tilts her head, her piercing gaze studying
sending a shiver down my spine.
“Yes,” she replies, her voice steady. “I want to know if you love him. But, if the question makes you uncomfortable, you don’t have to answer”
Do I love Damien, or do I simply want to be Luna?
Right now, one thing is crystal clear to me. Damien is my mate, and while he can be unpredictable at times, he’s never treated me the way Lucian did. In fact, he shows me a kind of affection I’ve never known—he wants me, something no one has ever truly done before. When I’m with him, my heart races, and there’s a part of me that wonders if 1 might love him. But what I’m certain of is that I do not want the Luna position. That, I’m sure
“I don’t know if I love Damien, but I do not want the Luna position,” I answer truthfully, the words slipping from my lips with surprising case.
“Hmm. I see,” she responds, tapping her chin in thought
“Yes, so you don’t have to worry about that. I promise to keep my distance from-

She doesn’t answer immediately, instead, she just watches me expectantly. I hesitate before shaking my head, and almost instantly, her eyes sparkle with mischief, a look that makes me uneasy.
“Okay, good! That means I might still have a chance, right!”
Wait, what? A chance for what exactly?
“Sorry, but what do you mean?” I ask, my voice soft, but her smirk only widens. Before I can react, she stands
