Waking up in the hospital once again, I stared blankly at the white ceiling above me.
I tried to sit up, and my big movement startled the person napping by the bed.
It was Leo.
He seemed to have been keeping watch all night, with dark circles surrounding his eyes.
Seeing me sit up, he nervously came to help me.
“You’re awake? How do you feel? Do you want some water or something to eat?”
My right wrist was wrapped in a thick layer of bandages. I wordlessly pushed away his helping hand and supported myself to sit up.
Leo froze for a moment, awkwardly withdrawing his hand.
I looked away, not wanting to see him.
If it weren’t for the excessive blood loss leaving my hand weak, I would have slapped him right across the face.
He had ruined my plans multiple times. I don’t recall him ever paying this much attention to me before.
“Where’s Jack?” I asked.
This question hit Leo’s sore spot.
He stood up and forcefully pinned me against the bed’s headboard.
The pain in my shoulders made me suck in a cold breath.
“Why are you still thinking about Jack even now?!”

“Why are you still thinking about Jack even now?!”
Leo looked at me, his eyes a mix of anger, sadness, and grievance.
“Mia, you’ve been unconscious for two days. Has he come to see you even once during this time?”
“Stop hurting yourself. Just divorce him, okay? Maybe someone has been secretly in love with you all along, but you just haven’t noticed.”
At that moment, the sadness in his eyes intensified.
He paused, then said, “Please, I’m begging you. Look at me for once, can you?”
