Chapter 175
The ride home was silent, except for the gentle huum of the engine
Zabelle sat in the back seat, her body exhausted, her mind racing
She had spent the past hour with Antonio, barely able to keep her emotions in check as she saw him lying on that hospital bed inside the prison.
His skin had been paler than usual, his movements slower, but he had still managed to smile at her, trying to comfort her instead of the other way
around.
However, she wasn’t a fool even though he had tried to make it seem like he was fine, the stab wound had affected him far deeper than he let on.
She clenched her fists and for the umpteenth time, she blamed herself for being the reason why he was suffering.
The phone in her lap vibrated, pulling her attention away from her thoughts. Why did it always have to interrupt her from her thoughts?!
With a sigh, she glanced at the screen. It was a message from the company that had signed her.
She was immediately reminded of the fact that today was supposed to be the day they announced her to the world as her brand ambassador.
However with the turn of events, she doubted that would happen now,
“Mrs Garcia, we regret to inform you that due to recent circumstances, we are suspending today’s announcement regarding your position as our brand ambassador. Our next course of action will be determined based on further developments.”
Zabelle stared
at the words for a long time. However, Her heart didn’t sink. It didn’t shatter.
In fact, she felt nothing she had expected it and would have been shocked if they had gone ahead with the unveiling.
With a deep breath, she closed the message and tossed the phone onto the sear beside her. This wasn’t what was important at the momenL
She then turned her head to look outside, watching the city rush past her in a blur. But as they approached an intersection, her eyes locked onto something that made her pulse quicken.
Jeremy’s car was parked outside his company’s headquarters. She’d recognize that number plate anywhere. Call it old habits.
A fresh wave of anger washed over her but at the same time, something popped into her head.
“Elias, stop the car,” she ordered
Elias glanced at her through the rearview mirror. “Ma’am?”
“Stop the car!” She repeated, her voice former this time.
He obeyed immediately, pulling up by the curb. The second the vehicle came to a halt, Zabelle opened the door and stepped out, slamming it behind her.
“Should I come with you?” Elias asked, concern in his voice when he saw that they were outside Jeremy’s company.
Zabelle shook her head. “No. Stay here.” It was important that she did this alone and with that, she walked straight into the building,
The lobby was grand, the floors gleamed, and the scent of expensive cologne filled the air. It made her stomach churn,
She spotted Jeremy moving toward the elevator. He hadn’t seen her yet, but the second she took a step forward, his gaze landed on her.
For a split second, he looked surprised. Then his lips curled into a smirk as he made his way towards her.
“Zabelle,” he greeted, his voice dripping with amusement. “I wasn’t expecting you.”
She crossed her arms. “Let’s talk”
Jeremy’s smirk widened. “Of course Let’s do that in my office, we don’t want prying eyes on us, do we?”
“No, I don’t,” she responded. Her gaze then flickered to the corners of the room, searching for something. Bingo, there they were. Security cameras. There were at least three in her immediate view.

the near future.
It was just what she needed, and it would come in handy in 11
“Zabelle?” She heard Jeremy call out to her, and she returned her attention to him:
“Let’s go,” he beckoned to her as he got into the elevator. With a deep sigh, she followed him, and she debated her life choices as she watched the
door close.
The ride up was tense. Jeremy leaned casually against the wall, hands in his pockets, watching her with an expression of pure satisfaction.
She could feel his prying eyes on her, but she didn’t turn to look at him. She couldn’t believe there was a time she was in love with the bastard.
What was she thinking back then? She wondered.
“I have to admit,” he mused, and she finally turned to look at him.
“This is a pleasant surprise. I thought you’d rather die than willingly walk into my office.”
Zabelle didn’t bother to dignify his words with a response, and she was grateful when the doors opened at that moment.
“Right this way,” he then led her out of the elevator, and she followed him into his office.
“It’s luxurious isn’t it?” Jeremy remarked when they were in his office.
That was another thing. Jeremy was a narcissistic asshole who loved to brag all the time. Considering what was going on with her, did he really think his luxurious office was going to be the thing on her mind?
If she could come face to face with her younger self, she would slap the shit out of her head and knock some sense right back in it.
Jeremy then walked ahead, gesturing toward a chair. “Have a seat.”
Zabelle hesitated for a moment before reluctantly sitting down.
Jeremy then sat across from her, watching her closely. “Would you like anything? Water? Whiskey!” He chuckled. “Wine? Oh, but you prefer.”
“Coffee,” she cut him off.
His eyes gleamed with amusement. He pressed a button on his desk phone. “Bring in some coffee for our guest.”
Zabelle shifted in her seat 1. What was she
even doing here?
The moment she asked for coffee, she realized she had made a mistake.
She should have just walked out the second she had gotten her face on the security cameras. This wasn’t needed anymore.
Or was it? Her alone in Jeremy’s office was after all going to be beneficial to her
No, she didn’t care about that. All she wanted to do was get out
However, before she could get up, the door opened, and a young woman entered, placing a steaming cup of coffee on the table before swiftly exiting.
