Her grip tightened on the arms of the chair. She hated how his words got under her skin.

She inhaled deeply. Then, she looked him in the eye. “I want to catch up. I’m losing my mind and I spontaneously decided to come here.”
Jeremy blinked and there was silence for a few seconds before he burst into laughter.
“Catch up?” He grinned, shaking his head. “Now, this is interesting.”
Zabelle forced herself to relax. If she was going to go ahead with her plan, then she needed to play the game right.
Jeremy studied her for some time, as if trying to see if she was lying, and she tried her best to put up an impassive face.

Her nails dug into her palms, but she didn’t give into her urge to slap Jeremy.

She tensed when Jeremy reached forward and brushed a strand of hair behind her ear
She stiffened at the contact, her entire body screaming at her to move, but she couldn’t as she stared into the eyes of the man she once loved
Goodness, why were they pulling her in? What was wrong with her?
“Come back to me,” he whispered. “Let Antonio go”
When Jeremy noticed she wasn’t resisting, he decided to take advantage of the opportunity by leaning in with the intention of kissing her.
“No, I’m sorry, I can’t do this,” she rasped, as she shot out of her seat.

Zabelle didn’t respond, instead, she turned on her heel and marched toward the door.
““Zabelle,” he called and she froze.
“When Antonio falls. 1l be right here to catch you.” Jeremy’s voice was low, taunting.
She clenched her fists but didn’t look back.
Without another word, she stormed out of the office. She headed straight for the elevator and within a few minutes, she was back in the car
Zabelle slammed the door shut and exhaled sharply.
Elias glanced at her. “Are you okay, ma’am?” He inquired.
Zabelle nodded stiffly in affirmation before speaking. “Let’s go home
As they pulled away, she stared out the window, her hands trembling as she couldn’t believe she just did that.
She knew Jeremy well enough to know that he would try his luck again and when he did, she would be there waiting for him.
Meanwhile, back in the office, Jeremy broke into laughter after Zabelle left, and he looked at the cameras that were in his office.
“If you won’t leave Antonio, I’ll make him throw you out and like 1 said, I be there to catch you,” he said to himself as he picked up his phone and
