Marion shot the clerk a sharp glare before turning back to Neil with a facade of innocence. “Neil, I just wanted to choose something quietly. You won’t blame me, will you?”
This time, Neil didn’t brush it off as usual. Instead, the man turned and left without a word.
All the way to the accident site, he kept rubbing the watch on his wrist. His heart was filled with anxiety and fear. At the crash site, search and rescue personnel were steering their boats back to shore. The coast guard helped several survivors wrapped in towels onto the beach.
Neil’s eyes lit up and he ran forward.

Neil’s eyes lit up and he ran forward.
“Sophia! Are you there?”
But the people who had come ashore were only the aircraft’s staff.
A coast guard saw him and looked at him solemnly.
“Mr. Brown, we have rescued all the crew members of the plane. However, according to their recollections, your wife did not put on the oxygen mask when the explosion occurred, nor did he use the escape ladder.”
“Even if he did not die in the explosion, he should be in the sea…..”
“I’m sorry, Mr. Brown. We want to continue searching, but the sea area beyond this point is too dangerous. For the safety of our search and rescue personnel, we have to temporarily halt the operation.”
“I’m truly sorry, but I’m afraid your wife has little chance of survival.”
Neil felt dizzy and his hands began to tremble violently.
The man wanted to squat down, but a sharp pain suddenly shot through his stomach. A piercing buzzing sound filled her ears, making it impossible to hear or see clearly.
The coast guard saw Neil’s pale, dazed face and hesitated before speaking again.
“Mr. Brown, we have found the black box. We will inform you of its contents later.”
A few days later, Neil’s secretary, Alice, delivered a recording, of the decoded contents of the black box.
In his office, Neil leaned back in his chair with his eyes reddened and swollen as if he had cried countless times.
The man clenched his fists, stretched out a trembling finger and pressed the play button.
“Miss Harris, the plane is going to explode! Please put on your oxygen mask! We will attempt an emergency landing on the water!”
In the audio, the crew members were frantically urging me.
“Neil… I think I’m dying,” I told my traitorous husband with a slow and calm voice.
“Thank you for being by my side these past three years.”
“Back then, James and I were engaged. But the day before we were supposed to get our marriage certificate, he suddenly told me he had fallen in love with Marion and asked me to let him go.”
“Thank you for appearing at that time and offering me kindness when I was at my lowest.”
“Even if that kindness was just an act for Marion’ss happiness, I still appreciate it.”
“Thank you for pulling me out of the abyss. Thank you for giving me a false marriage.”
“But when I finally realized everything was a lie, you pushed me back into that abyss again.”
“That drawing, the art gallery, was actually a design my parents created before they passed away. It was their
lifelong dream. But you used it to please Marion, turning it into a shopping mall for her.”
“Now, as I face death, I’ll return the favor. I hope that, from now on, you won’t have to love her in secret but can be
openly happy.”
“Goodbye, Neil.”
This would be my farewell ode to Neil. After that, it was followed by the deafening sound of explosions. Th
silence.
“No!” Neil screamed in anguish.
Beside him, Alice finally spoke up, unable to stay silent any longer, “Mr. Brown, Miss Harris actually overheard everything you said to your sister that day.”
A few days later, the recording from the black box was leaked online, causing an uproar. The Brown, Dupont and Frank families were all caught in the storm of public opinion. The stocks of the three companies plummeted one after another and rumors spread like wildfire.
Some claimed that Neil had orchestrated the plane crash to kill his own wife, me, for Marion.

Others said I was nothing more than Neil’s pawn and when I could no longer endure his affair with Marion, I chose death as my final protest.
However, by the time these rumors reached me, I was already far away. Instead, I was in the coastal
neighborhood of Lyme Regis, letting the salty sea breeze wash over me. Actually, I bought a beachfront apartment with the savings I had before my marriage.
Not only that, I opened a small architectural design firm. My new life had started now. At least, that was what ! thought.
