Chapter 52
The Escape Plan
The helicopter touched down on a secluded airstrip just outside the city. The night air was thick with tension as Elena, Naomi, and Richard hurried toward the waiting jet.
Jordan stood near the open cargo bay, arms crossed. “This is insane. Even for you.”
Elena smirked. “And yet, you already have the plane ready.”
Jordan sighed. “You asked for fast. This is fast.” He gestured toward the aircraft. “Private jet. No flight plan. We’ll be ghosts.”
Naomi raised an eyebrow. “And what’s the catch?”
Jordan grinned. “The pilot’s not exactly a law-abiding citizen.”
Richard groaned. “Of course.”
Elena didn’t hesitate. “As long as they get us to Paris in one piece, I don’t care who they are.”
A voice called out from the cockpit. “I heard that.”
A tall woman in a leather jacket emerged, her sharp eyes scanning the group. “You’re lucky Jordan pays well.”
Jordan smirked. “Amira, meet the people who are about to make your life very complicated.”
Amira snorted. “Fantastic. Get in.”
Naomi glanced around. “No security? No one tracking us?”
Jordan shook his head. “Not yet. But we need wheels up in five minutes.”
Elena gave a curt nod. “Let’s move.”
They climbed aboard, and the engines roared to life.
As the jet lifted off, Richard slumped into a seat, exhaling sharply. “We really just left the country.”
Naomi leaned back, rubbing her temples. “Yeah. And if this goes wrong, we won’t be able to come back.”
Elena stared out the window, watching the city shrink below them. No turning back now.
Jordan’s voice came through the intercom. “Elena, we have a problem.”
Her heart clenched. “What now?”
Jordan hesitated. “Vincent’s people know where you’re going.”
Naomi sat up straight. “How? We didn’t leave a trail.”
Jordan’s tone was grim. “Someone betrayed you.”
Silence filled the cabin.
Richard swallowed hard. “That’s not possible.”
Elena’s mind raced. They had trusted too many people.
Naomi’s voice was quiet but firm. “Who?”
Jordan’s next words sent a chill down Elena’s spine.
“It’s someone on that plane.”
