Chapter 16
They knocked at my door, requesting me to let them enter and talk for one last time. Helplessly, I could only take the three of them into the pack’s gathering hall. Dylan and Marcus knelt down as soon as they entered the door. Their faces showed remorse, and their whole bodies seemed to be shrouded in endless pain.
Dylan started, “Bella, one full moon after you left, we both had the same dream. In the dream, we did unforgivable things to you, one after another.”
“That dream was too real, as real as if it had happened. We suddenly understood why you left and why you were so cold to us,” continued Marcus.
I didn’t respond. The two wolves in front of me had already burst into tears. Ember on the side suddenly rushed to me and burst into tears. “Bella, can you help me beg for mercy? I don’t want to destroy your bond. I haven’t done anything. I just simply like the two of you and want to repay your
kindness…”
“Shut up!” Dylan pulled Ember over and growled at her. He was so angry that his whole body was shaking. Marcus shouted in the back, “You deceitful she–wolf, it’s you who instigated the discord between us and Bella. We both saw the marks you hid on your body. You don’t love us at all. You approached us deliberately because you were jealous of Bella and wanted to hurt her through us!”
According to their stories, I learned a lot of things that troubled me in my past life. Through me, Ember got to know all the preferences of Dylan and Marcus. She carefully molded herself into the way they liked. She was playing hard to get, and acting like a spoiled she–wolf. Like a cat playing with a mouse, she played with the two of them in her hands.
Seeing that she couldn’t explain, Ember didn’t want to continue pretending. She looked at the two wolves with red eyes and screamed hysterically. “What if I did it on purpose? Why should she be born as an Alpha blood and I have to be born as an ordinary omega, following her commands to survive? My appearance and talent are no worse than hers, why do you all like her so much? I won’t accept it, I just won’t accept it! I will destroy her with my own hands, I want to let her know that the bond she has is just the garbage I gave her!”
Marcus couldn’t bear it anymore, so he growled at Ember directly. He was

a fierce wolf since he was a pup, and he didn’t care about his life when fighting. This was the second time, they even almost killed her directly. I was afraid that they would bring shame to my pack, so I hurried to stop them. “Enough, go outside if you want to make trouble, don’t pretend in front of me!”
“I’m sorry, Bella, I’m too stupid, I was fooled by her, I forgot our past, forgot… how good you are…” The two looked at me dejectedly, and burst into tears in front of me at the same time. Dylan kept muttering to himself. “My heart for you has never changed. It’s just that you were so strong and so independent, I was not sure I could catch up with you, so I deceived myself and believed those lies.”
They thought that by doing this, they could drag me into the darkness. They could keep me by their side forever by being my protector. Unfortunately, things in the world don’t go as planned. I struggled, grew stronger in the darkness, and rose to a higher rank. They couldn’t trap me, nor could they catch up with me. Ember was banished from the pack and lost her powers.
Dylan and Marcus decided to pay for their bad deeds. They promised me that even if they like me they would not disturb me. They remembered everything they did to me in the past and wanted to redeem themselves. They also announced in their respective packs that they would never get married to any she–wolf and would remain single throughout their lives, longing for me.
Now I understood why my mentor, Hades, called me before I was leaving the institute for holiday and said, “Bella, I know you remain disturbed because of your mates consistent pursuit. But, don’t worry, it will be the last time you will see them.”
It turned out the dream was his idea to make my mates realize how much they had tormented me and that I could never forgive them no matter how much they chase after me, helping them finally give up on me and reflect on their mistakes.
The day I returned to the Golden Wolf Institute, the full moon was shining. I didn’t know what the future held for those three wolves. But I knew for sure the road ahead of me. It was bright.
