Chapter 7
Trying to maintain his composure, Jacob opened the door.
The police directly displayed the photo of the body and spoke in a serious
The surveillance footage shows that five days ago, you went to the funeral. home to identify the body. So we’ve come over to verify that this body, is it your youngest daughter, Madeline Lawrence?”
Jacob looked a bit flaky, but soon, he responded with a smile.
“Comrade, we did go to identify the body, but the body is unrecognizable, so we dare not easily confirm it.”
“Besides, our youngest daughter has been rebellious since childhood, maybe she just ran away from home.”
His tone trembled slightly, but the

“According to investigation, you went to the East Blue Sea on July 8th and arranged a helicopter. Some members of the public provided photo clues. On that day, a girl appeared on the helicopter, hanging below the helicopter. She was wearing the same gray clothes.”
“This helicopter was contracted by you, right?”
Jacob’s face quickly turned pale and he tried to defend himself with a little
stutter.
“That’s right, but that doesn’t prove… the body is my youngest daughter.”
The police’s gaze was sharp and straightforward.
“The hands and feet of the unidentified female corpse were tied up with transparent thin ropes. This detail is enough for you to recall whether the corpse is Madeline Lawrence, right?”
“Come with us.”
The police looked inside the house, pointed at Noella, who was curled up on the sofa and Lilliana, who was self–harming and said,
“You two, come along too.”
Noella seemed to have been frightened out of her wits. She curled herself up into a ball and muttered to herself.
“It’s not my fault. Don’t come looking for me. It has nothing to do with me.”

These words reached the ears of the police, making their faces even more solemn.
The family of three was taken away by the police car. I followed behind, feeling a rare sense of relief.
In the police station, all the evidence was presented openly. Jacob remained calm and spoke up selectively.
“On that day, she deliberately pushed her sister off the helicopter. We just wanted to punish her. Who knew there would be an accident? We didn’t have
bad intentions either.”
The police took out the string again.
That long transparent string, placed in the evidence bag, indicating my death evidence.
“Then how do you explain this?”
Jacob was a little hesitant. He looked back at Noella and spoke in a deep voice as if he had made up his mind.
“I was the one who tied her.”
The police’s tone was instantly serious.
“It you confess, we will give you leniency. But if you resist, we will give your severity. Please tell us the truth about what happened that day!”
It was not until the surveillance footage was released that the scene of Noella tying my hands and feet was clearly captured.
“My dear sister, accept the punishment obediently. From now on, no one will be able to compete with me for the love of my parents.”
Her tone was fierce, completely different from the well behaved one she pretended to be in front of our parents.
The evidence was conclusive. Noella was directly detained, but she shouted hoarsely.
“My dad has confessed his crime. Why are you arresting me? I am innocent, you have arrested the wrong person!”
The law was like a long net and there was no loophole.
None of the three of them could escape legal sanctions.
I just felt so sad.
In the end, it was the righteous police who stood up for me.

Those who harmed me was my family members who share the same.
bloodline.
As soon as the matter was made public, it immediately caused a huge uproar in society.
Everyone was condemning my parents‘ cruelty and cold–bloodedness and Noella’s vicious heart.
This was the first time I had felt someone was speaking for me and defending me.
The unidentified female corpse, which had long been blurred and‘ unclaimed, was finally buried properly.
In front of the grave, many people brought me bouquets of flowers.
There were also snacks, milk tea and small toys.
These preferences were things I had never had before and I just felt so happy and warm.
On the day of the court hearing, it was a warm and sunny day.
I floated in the audience, watching the strangers who came for me, who were angry and shed tears for me at the hearing.
I was happy. People supported me and spoke up for me. I was really happy.
It was a pity that I was dead now. I could not repay them for their kindness
to me.
I watched with my own eyes as the three members of the family were sentenced. My soul felt at ease, my body felt light and I felt as if I was floating
in the air.
The obsession was gone. I thought it was time for me to leave.
So I floated back to the grave and squatted there while eating the delicious food they brought and looking at those beautiful flowers, making the body warm.
Those were flowers that belonged only to me.
The overflowing love I had never felt before enveloped my body, pushing
me upwards bit by bit.
In the end, there is only one last glimmer of light left in the world.
I thought that I might be happy.

At least at the moment of my disappearance, I knew that there were people in this world who loved me.
That was already good.
