Chapter 5
Blake gripped the phone tightly.
The words divorce papers spun around in his mind.
He never expected that I would divorce him. After all, when we were together, I loved him so much that I would’ve given up my life for him.
“What did you say? Say it again.”
Blake’s voice was slow and low.
Zachary couldn’t even hide his fear. There was a sob in his voice.
“Blake, I really can’t reach Caroline. A lawyer came earlier and just dropped off the divorce papers. There’s also a property settlement agreement attached, which mentions the company you set up for Ms. Foster overseas.
“Do you think Caroline found out you’ve been using her as a shield? She’s been by your side for five years, and she knows a lot. If she gets angry and exposes it, then we…”
“Shut up!”
A wave of frustration crashed against Blake’s heart like the tide.
“Keep it under control. I’ll handle it when I get back.”
“Blake, what happened?”
Megan tugged at his sleeve.
Blake suppressed his irritation, tapping a few times on his phone.
“Caroline’s missing. I’ll have someone take you to the hotel.”
A flash of joy passed through Megan’s eyes, and she softly collapsed into Blake’s arms.
“She’s just a target, Blake. I’m so upset. Let them go look for her. Can you stay with me for a while?”

“Don’t be unreasonable.”
Blake’s face turned cold, allowing his men to drag Megan out of the passenger seat.
Her disbelief was obvious.
It was hard for Megan to believe that just before, all she had to do was act cute, and Blake would compromise without hesitation.
When I was severely injured and near death, Blake threw me aside to go abroad and stay with her. This time, I was just missing, but he didn’t
care about her at all.
“You married her to protect me, didn’t you? Blake, how can you just ignore my suffering because of her?”
Megan’s voice faded as she was dragged away.
Blake slammed his fist on the steering wheel.
He pressed the gas pedal to the floor.
Amid the roaring wind, he kept reminding himself, “She’s just a target, a suffering substitute. My worry is only because I fear she’ll expose
me.”
But when he opened the villa door, Blake froze at the entrance, unable to move.
Everything related to me had been cleaned up completely.
Only by the door, neatly arranged, were all the gifts he had given me, along with the unlocked diary.
He picked up the unlocked diary as if even his breath had stopped.
“Blake.”
Zachary appeared behind him, holding a stack of papers from the lawyer.
He flipped through them one by one, from the divorce agreement to proof of his affair.
And all the gifts he had given Megan.
Finally, there was proof that I had left with nothing.
Each page mocked the marriage.
Compared to the gifts Blake had given Megan, the ones he had once given me now seemed like nothing more than empty gestures.
He ran his fingers through his hair, the complexity of his emotions beyond even his own description.
Scenes from the past flickered in his mind.
Blake buried his head in his hands, unable to control his breathing, even though he usually kept his emotions in check.
Seeing his state, Zachary couldn’t help but speak.
“Blake, I told you before. Treating Caroline this way, you’d regret it sooner or later. Caroline is such a great woman. We all know you’ve liked her for a long time, except you refused to admit it.
“If you had just confessed and apologized to Caroline, she would have forgiven you. You…”
Zachary was interrupted by the fierce look Blake shot at him.
“How does Caroline know the password?”
Blake’s voice was hoarse as he waved the diary in front of Zachary.
2:23 PM da
He was suspicious if I hadn’t seen this diary, would I have left?
He suspected someone was behind this.
It wasn’t until Zachary mentioned my university studies in cryptography, even the degree certificate Blake had gone with me to pick up, that Blake’s expression shifted from surprise to a faint pain.
He had never truly cared about me.
That superficial indifference was something I, lost in love, foolishly believed.
“Find her. No matter the cost, bring Caroline back.”
Zachary hesitated but didn’t leave.
“Caroline must have left because her heart was broken.”
“Find her!”
Blake’s voice grew sharper.
