Chapter 110
Natalie took the lead, her strokes strong and confident. My heart pounded in my chest and I held my breath, afraid to even take a
breath.
However, in the last the final fifty meters, her speed visibly slowed. The strain on her body was taking its toll and it drained Natalie’s strength.
Meanwhile, Becca who was maintaining a steady rhythm, gradually closed the gap.
My hands clenched into fists and cold sweat formed on my forehead.”
Jacob and Cassie jumped up and down excitedly. They were shouting at the top of their lungs, “Becca, you’re the best! Go! Crush Natalie under your feet! “As they shouted, they turned to me with smug, taunting expressions.}
I silently cheered for Natalie while praying for a miracle. However, in the very last second, Becca surged forward with a final burst of strength and touched the wall first.
In the end, Becca won the championship and Natalie came in second.”
After the awards ceremony, Natalie handed me her silver medal, her eyes filled with regret as she said, “Mom, I’ve tried my best.” I stroked her head gently and reassured her,
It’s okay. Even with a fever, you still won second place. You were amazing.”
Jacob, holding Becca’s gold medal, strutted over
an air of triumph.>
“Wanda, didn’t I say, my daughter, Becca, is the best? Your daughter Natalie is nothing but a loser. Just admit that your daughter is no match for mine!”
Rage coursed through me and my whole body trembled in anger. I clenched my fists and shouted back, “She wasn’t feeling well! It’s just one national championship, so what’s there to be so proud of?”
Jacob shoved the gold medal in my face and his arrogance grew even more unbearable.
“Open your eyes and take a good look! This is a gold medal! It proves my daughter is better than yours!“}
With that, he snatched the silver medal from my hands and threw it forcefully onto the ground. Then, as if that wasn’t enough, he stomped on it several times and ground it beneath his shoe.
I hadn’t even processed what had happened when I saw the once-pristine silver medal now covered in dirt and footprints.
I picked it up in disbelief, only to find it bent and misshapen. Rage boiled inside of me and my body shook so hard as anger started to explode.
However, Jacob wasn’t done. He shouted, “I want your daughter to admit defeat to my Becca, right here and now!”
He turned to look for Becca, only to realize she was nowhere to be found. Panic overtook him. His eyes darted frantically as he called her name then he dialed her number over and over, but no one answered. Only then did it dawn on him that Becca, his precious daughter, had disappeared E
Watching his panic–stricken face, I couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh. How could a father care so little for his own daughter?!
