Chapter 8
I froze upon hearing this. I couldn’t help but think, “How could Dylan know I was a player from another world?”
Dylan gave a mocking grin. “Surprised? Oh, it seems that you’re a newbie. Didn’t your system tell you? I’m from the Anti–Conquest Alliance. Everyone in this alliance has been hurt by people like you. My mission in this world was to stop you from completing your task. You must be wondering how I managed to make all your targets abandon you, right?”
NO
Perhaps feeling confident, Dylan was in a good mood as he lit a cigarette. “In fact, they all loved you deeply. When you were about to succeed, I told them your true identity. I lied to them, saying that once they truly fell in love with you, you would leave this world forever.
“What do you think they did after hearing that? They always knew you were innocent, but they couldn’t bear to let you go, so they had no choice but to help me torture you. Isn’t that amusing?”
Dylan laughed maniacally, tossing the cigarette butt into the alcohol–filled bathtub. Flames instantly erupted, burning my body. “I won’t kill you. I’ll let you watch as I take everything from you, just like others took everything from me. As long as you fail and keep lingering in this world, your system will erase you!”
The flames burned my skin. My body turned into a charred mess.
Just as I was about to be consumed by the fire, Dylan pulled me out of the bathtub and injected me with a sedative. Then, he doused me in alcohol, and the excruciating pain shot straight to my bones.
I asked the system about the Anti–Conquest Alliance, why it hadn’t warned me, and if it could help me.
The system was baffled, admitting it had only come into existence and quickly connected to the system network to check.
It then told me that this alliance was created by a system designed to empower those who had failed. Due to their overwhelming power, my
system couldn’t help me.
In despair, I had to endure endless torment, unable to die.
On the wedding day, Dylan wore a tailored groom’s suit. He had his assistant dress me, apply makeup, and inject me with another sedative before speaking, “Today is my wedding with your wife. You’d better watch how I replace you and marry her.
“Oh, I forgot to tell you that she agreed to marry me because I lied to her. I told her that once she marries me, your mission fails, and you’ll stay in this world forever with her. She actually believed it. What a fool.”
Soon, Dylan secretly brought me to the wedding venue. Surrounded by his men and under the influence of the sedative, I couldn’t resist at all. I could only watch helplessly as Luna walked towards Dylan.
Perhaps due to prolonged use of sedatives, my body developed resistance, allowing me to control my upper body. I took a deep breath. If Dylan wasn’t lying and Luna still loved me, she would save me when she saw my injuries.
While the guards weren’t paying attention, I lunged towards the floor, tearing off my clothes and shouting at Luna on the stage, “Luna, Dylan lied to you all. Look at my injuries! He’s a player too! He just wants to kill me!”
The venue fell silent.
Dylan’s eyes widened in shock. “Ryan, what are you talking about? You’re the player. I’m here to help them!”
Seeing the injuries covering my body, Luna was stunned. She immediately ordered her people to rescue me.
Violet, Bella, and Eliana rushed out, screaming my name.
Seeing this scene, Dylan gritted his teeth and ordered his henchmen to kill me.
The venue was in chaos.
Gradually, the sedative’s effects wore off. Seeing one of Dylan’s thugs rushing at Luna and the others with daggers, I immediately lunged forward. The next second, blood splattered everywhere.

“Ryan! No!” Luna, Violet, Bella, and Eliana, the heroines I had once tried to win over, cried out in anguish.
But it was too late. The dagger had severed a major artery. Even Violet, with her medical prowess, couldn’t save me.
I reached out, trying to touch their faces, but my hand fell limp. “Live well. I’ll go to…another world…”
This time, I truly returned to my original world. The system rewarded me for foiling the other system’s plot and healed my body.
My sister was overjoyed.
What I experienced in that world was like a dream, and now, the dream was over.
End.
