“Benedict, do you even know who you’re talking to?” Regina asked.
“I have the King family behind me. In all of Los Angeles, who dares to defy me?“}
“The Woods Family should feel honored that I’m interested in your son. Did you hear that?”
Without waiting for a response, she hung up.
James, who had been standing quietly beside her, showed no anger at his father being insulted. Instead, he gazed at Regina with admiration.”
“Dear, no matter what anyone says, I will marry you.”
Regina smirked, basking in the attention. She practically tilted her head back in satisfaction.Then, James turned to me.”
His expression shifted instantly.}
His voice was now cold and detached as he said, “Eleanor, you made your call. Now, it’s time to fulfill your promise.“}
He reached into his bag and pulled out a thick stack of documents, placing them on the table.
“I’ve already prepared the paperwork. Sign it.”
I glanced at the divorce agreement and in that moment, everything clicked into place.}
This was all orchestrated.
Holly deliberately making things difficult for me. The business executives provoking me. Regina making a dramatic entrance, forcing a public humiliation.
It was all part of James‘ plan. For someone like him, I wouldn’t waste a shred of sympathy. Without hesitation, I took the pen and signed my name, pressing my fingerprint onto the paper before pushing it back toward him.”
James‘ expression flickered with dissatisfaction.
“Eleanor, what’s with your attitude?“}
I met his gaze, my voice void of emotion as I remarked, “What? Weren’t you the one who wanted this divorce?“}
“You got what you wanted. I signed it without protest. And now you’re upset?”
I smirked.!
“I’d suggest you sign quickly. Your beloved Miss King won’t wait forever.“}
James‘ face darkened. Flustered and embarrassed, he snatched the pen and scribbled his signature down. With that stroke of ink, my three–year marriage officially came to an end.
But there was no sadness. No regret. It was only relief.
James shoved the papers aside as he said, “It’s done. Now get lost! I don’t
want to see you again.”
I crossed my legs and leaned back against the bench, locking eyes with him.
“Don’t worry. I’m not going anywhere just yet.“}
“Now that I’m no longer tied to the Woods Family, it’s time to settle some old scores.“}
A hush fell over the room.}
Regina sneered.}
“Did I hear that right? You think you can settle scores with me?”
She folded her arms and let out a mocking laugh.
“You ungrateful bitch, do you even know who I am? Do you know the power of the King family?“}
The people around us erupted into laughter again, feeding off her arrogance. I remained silent, my expression unreadable. After all, they wouldn’t be laughing for long.”
Regina mistook my silence for fear. With a smug grin, she grabbed James by the collar and kissed him deeply, right in front of me. Then, she turned back at me.”
Her voice was dripping with mockery as she smugly said, “Miss Hawking, you have two choices. Kneel and apologize or I’ll have someone break your legs.””
I chuckled at what she just said to me.
“You keep throwing around the King Family name like it means something.”
My eyes locked onto hers as I coldly told her, “But you’re just as stupid as your lapdog. You have no idea who you’ve just offended.“}
Regina’s face twisted in confusion, but before she could respond, Holly stepped forward.
Her voice shrill as she commanded me, “Eleanor, open your damn eyes and recognize who you’re talking to!“}}]
She was practically foaming at the mouth, spitting in my direction. I calmly pushed her away, unfazed. Then, I pulled out my phone.
“Hello?”
My voice was cool, almost casual.M
“I’m at Hotel Indigo in San Diego. I’m in danger and need immediate support.”
I snapped my phone shut.!!
And then, I waited.”
