After ending the call, I glanced at the clock on the wall and silently counted.
One… Two… Three…
Before I could reach ten, the door burst open with a violent bang. Dozens of armed officers flooded the room, surrounding everyone in an instant. A middle–aged man in a sleek tuxedo stepped forward, his presence exuding authority.
The room fell into stunned silence.
Holly, oblivious to the shift in power, quickly straightened her collar and hurried forward with a flattering smile.
“Mr. Oswald, are you here to welcome Miss King as well?”
The moment his name left her lips, the air in the room changed.”
James stiffened. The man’s expression paled as he carefully moved behind Regina. As for the other guests, they exchanged uneasy glances.%
Only I remained seated, my fingers tapping the table rhythmically.”
Greg Oswald’s sharp gaze scanned the room until it landed on me. His stiff posture eased slightly, but a hint of nervousness flickered across his face.”
“Miss Hawking,” he addressed me with grave concern.”
“Who dared to hurt you?”
I smiled, slowly raising my hand to point at Holly.”
“She did.”
Holly barely had time to process what was happening before the officers grabbed her and slammed her to the ground.
“Wait… what’s going on?!” she shrieked, struggling to let herself off.”
“Mr. Oswald, this must be a misunderstanding!“}}
She thrashed wildly as she shouted desperately, “I’m Miss King’s staff. So, you can’t touch me!“}
At the mention of her name, Regina finally stepped forward.”
“This old man,” she said mockinly, sneering and crossing her arms.”
“I’m Regina King from the King family in Los Angeles. Let my staff go and I’ll forget this ever happened.”
Greg didn’t even glance at her. The man just simply waved a hand, brushing the arrogant woman dismissively.”
“Take her away.”
The officers dragged Holly out of the room.
From the moment the door opened to the second Holly was gone, the entire ordeal had taken less than ten seconds. The remaining guests sat frozen in their seats, utterly bewildered. Obviously, they were confused what was happening.
“What just happened?” someone whispered.}}
“Why is the cabinet getting involved in business affairs?” another muttered in disbelief.”
“Yeah, they never interfere unless it’s something huge. Offending Mr. Oswald over a mere trophy wife! This is insane.“}
‘Shut up,” an older man hissed.”
“This is beyond us. I just hope Mr. Oswald can fix this, or we’re all in trouble.“}]
Regina, humiliated beyond belief, clenched her fists.”
Her gaze locked onto me, burning with fury.”
“You fucking bitch!” she shouted at me angrily.”
“How dare you have my staff arrested in front of me? Do you want to make an enemy of the King family?”
I met her glare with an amused smile./
‘Miss King,” I said coldly.%
“That was just the beginning. You’ll be next.“/
My father once told me. People like them thought that money made them untouchable. The only way to deal with them was to show them that they were wrong. If they were crazy, you would have to be even more crazier.
I leaned back in my seat.”
“I already warned you! Stop throwing around the King Family’s name.“}
I tilted my head, feigning curiosity.
“In fact, why don’t you go ahead and call them? See if they can save you.”
Regina’s confidence wavered, but she took out her phone.”
With a haughty flick of her hair, she dialed.”
“Hello, Cameron? It’s Regina. I need a favor. Find out everything about this bitch named Eleanor Hawking in San Diego.” A pause.!
Then, from over a meter away, I could hear the sharp cursing on the other end of the call.
THE AM
Fuck? Who did you piss off?! I can’t even mess with her background!”
When I heard it, I couldn’t help it. I burst out laughing. Regina’s face twisted with rage. Furious, she slammed her finger against her screen and dialed agan.
Unde Rommel she cooed, her voice sickly sweet.
“How have you been?1
This time, she buttered him up for a full minute before finally cutting to the chase.
Undle Rommell, I ran into some trouble in San Diego. Can you help me fix it?”
She had no idea. No idea that there wasn’t a single call she could make to save her this time. And I was going to enjoy watching her realize it.
