“Don’t worry. Im here with you.” Dominic finally put on his shirt.
He switched to a white silk shirt, the semi–transparent kind.
This guy really knew how to dress to tempt a woman. He only buttoned up button.
Even his casual movements showed off his strong, sexy chest.
There were still marks left from me on his skin.
I thought, “What will my husband’s parents think if they see him like this?”
“You… you stop right there!”

Flustered and embarrassed, I stood in front of him, tiptoed, and tilted my head back to help him button up, one button at a time.
Once I finished, I realized this was his trick.
“Baby, if you don’t button me up from now on, I won’t do it myself at home,” Dominic said with
a mischievous grin and gave me a quick kiss before heading to the door.
I hurriedly straightened my clothes and obediently stood to the side.
Soon, a man and a woman came in, looking about fifty or sixty. The man had a serious expression, while the woman looked gentle and kind.
“Are you Charlotte?” my husband’s father spoke first.
He had retired by now. After decades of military service, he looked similar in build to Dominic. His silent authority was unmistakable.
I sat up straight, stiff with nervousness. “Yes, I’m Charlotte. If there’s anything you need, please let me know. I’ll do my best to improve.”
Facing someone of his stature, I felt like a new recruit, filled with genuine fear and anxiety. My awkwardness made Dominic chuckle.
I shot him a glare, signaling for him to stop goofing around while his parents were here. Dominic immediately stopped smiling and became serious, sitting up straight next to me as we listened respectfully.
“Well, well.”
To my surprise, my husband’s father seemed very pleased with our interaction.
I didn’t quite understand.
He cleared his throat. “A father knows his son best. I know how hard Dominic is to manage. Just now, a single look from you made him obey. That shows you’re the one for him. I approve of you as my son’s wife. What do you think?*
With an authoritative face, my husband’s father shifted to a playful smile, waiting for his to speak.
I realized then that my husband’s father was afraid of his wife.
It was hilarious.

I thought, “The man who could fight on the battlefield was scared of his wife at home. No
wonder Dominic listened so well to me. What a good family vibe.”

“Charlotte, your foster mother and I are close friends. She raised you like her own daughter, so of course, I’m satisfied. Don’t worry. If Dominic ever hurts you, just call me. I’ll take care of him
for you!”
His wife, who seemed so gentle, casually threatened to take care of her own son.
She was so cool.
After that, they gave us a house, a car, and a seven–figure bank card, celebrating our marriage in the most practical way.
Compared to their generosity, my wedding gift was a bit sad. It was just me, nothing else.
It seemed my husband’s mother noticed my discomfort and comforted me, “Charlotte,
sweetheart, the most important thing is that you and Dominic have a good life together. Everything else is just noise.”
I nodded vigorously.
The marriage registration was quickly completed.
Holding the two marriage certificates in my hand, I leaned into Dominic’s arms, feeling a
warm, comforting sense of contentment.
Life had been good to me.
In my past life, my biological parents were biased, and my husband’s parents liked to control me. I had countless troublesome relatives. But in this life, my husband’s parents treated me like their own daughter.

My husband wasn’t interested He loved only me.
Having such a start to my life felt like I’d already won the game. It felt so good.
This morning, when I came home, Dominic knew I wasn’t exactly favored in the Clark family.
So, he used his connections to get me a dozen expensive dresses to choose from.
I picked a bright one. The color made my skin look smooth, and my face glowed like a flower
in full bloom.
“Baby, you’re so beautiful. I must have saved the world in my past life to deserve someone as stunning as you.”
With a magician’s flair, he pulled out a jewelry box. Inside was a huge diamond, so big it practically blinded me. I could tell it was worth a fortune. The Montgomery family might have money, but they couldn’t even keep up with Dominic’s spending.
“A simple pair of matching wedding bands would be fine. There’s no need to waste money like this,” I suggested, wanting him to pick something smaller.
But Dominic wouldn’t listen. With determination, he slid the massive diamond onto my
finger.
“Providing for the family is a man’s job. You just need to keep yourself clean and take care of
me,” he said, his words like a casual flirt.

in, wanting to kiss me.
Then, just as our lips were about to meet, a phone rang.
Dominic glanced at the caller ID, and his playful expression instantly turned serious.
“Is it a task?”
He answered the phone without stepping away from me. I could vaguely hear it was about an important case that needed his hacking skills.
Dominic hesitated for a moment.
I quickly waved my hand, signaling that it was fine and I could go home on my own.
“Alright, I’ll be right out,” he said, hanging up, looking at me apologetically. “Baby, I’ll hurry
back.”
I nodded. To reassure him, I kissed him on the lips.
In that brief moment, we kissed like we couldn’t get enough of each other, our emotions wild and desperate.
Soon, I heard a car honk downstairs.
“Honey, be careful. I’ll be waiting for you at home,” I shouted towards Dominic, who was retreating back.
He gave me an okay gesture and quickly left.
The driver took me back to the Clark Villa.
Before I even stepped inside, I heard Madison’s sweet, high–pitched voice. “Mom, I’m really not upset. Jaxon treats me well, and he’s loyal. I know I’ll be happy with him. Don’t mind that he doesn’t have a job right now. In less than a year, he’ll be the kind of business tycoon that everyone in Lyrinia wants to know. The live–streaming industry is just like the entertainment world. Some people take years to get famous, but others blow up overnight. Jaxon is one of the latter. When the Clark Group goes public, it’ll just be a matter of him saying a word. You and Dad just need to sit back and enjoy the benefits.”
I almost laughed when I heard this. Anyone with a brain knew that taking a company public wasn’t something that just happened with a single sentence, but Madison made it sound so simple.
What shocked me even more was Sarah, who then turned to Thomas and said, “Didn’t you say you wanted to retire early? How about handing the company over to Madison? That way, when Jaxon becomes famous, the Clark Group will benefit too.”
Thomas hesitated. “What about Charlotte_”
“Don’t even bring her up. That useless woman can’t even keep a man in line, let alone run a company. How could we trust her to manage it when she barely graduated high school?”

Then, Sarah angrily brought up the fact that I was left alone in bed, throwing me under the
bus.
She clicked on her phone and added, “Look at this, Thomas, on their wedding day, Dominic was out at a club with another woman. Their marriage is falling apart like this, and you expect the Montgomery family to help us go public? At the end of the day, we’re only going to rely on
Madison!”
Thomas‘ face darkened.
Madison suddenly exclaimed, “Isn’t Charlotte’s private life a mess? Otherwise, how would Dominic turn out like this?”
That comment clicked for Thomas.
He slammed his hand on the table, standing up. “That shameful woman! I shouldn’t have ever brought her into the city. You know what? Let’s take that ten–million–dollar engagement gift from the Montgomery family and give it to Jaxon. Let him start his business. If that ungrateful woman dares to come asking about it, we’ll just make up some excuse and get rid of her.”
With that, Thomas started planning to hand over the management of the Clark Group to Madison.
I looked down at the jewelry box in my hands and then glanced at the trunk of the car. Dominic had been extravagant, sending me gold bars, jewelry, cigars, fine wine, and various supplements.
*Please take all this back. They don’t deserve it.”
I walked into the Clark Villa empty–handed.
The moment I entered, the few people in the hall turned to look at me. They must have noticed Dominic wasn’t with me.
Sarah’s face immediately paled, and I could only think one thing, “It’s time to start a fight!”
