Chapter 3
Polly and Theodora’s expressions shifted immediately. “Impossible! That bitch was nothing but a nobody–how could she possibly have a diamond card? It has to be fake.”
After all, even Howell couldn’t get his hands on one of those.
As soon as the diamond card was brought out, the store manager was called over. The moment he saw the card, his demeanor changed completely, and he became deeply respectful.
The people in the store were stunned, unable to believe that Joanna actually owned a diamond black card.
Joanna, however, had one simple request: get Polly and Theodora the hell out of the store, and she never wanted to see that smug saleswoman
again. The manager jumped right into action, making it happen.
“You shut! How dare you do this to me? Just wait, I won’t let you get away with it!” Polly spat, furious. She felt completely humiliated and wished she could sink into the ground.
She had never been treated like this before and could only slink off with Theodora, both of them fuming in defeat.
Isabella thought, ‘Wow! That is so satisfying!
Isabella snapped out of her shock and grinned, “Babe, I’m never letting you go!”
Joanna chuckled. “Go ahead, hang on tight. Let’s keep shopping.”
She still needed a few work outfits. Now that she was pregnant, she also had to pick up some comfy flats. ‘Oh, and I still haven’t told my family about the pregnancy. Wonder how the hell they’ll react?
‘Looks like it’s almost time to get back to work, and then there’s the whole baby thing to deal with.
At the hospital, the doctor was finishing up changing Margot’s bandages.
A few days ago, she’d been shoved by a crowd of crazy fans at the airport and twisted her ankle. Now, she was getting checked out.
Margot’s face was pale as she watched the doctor carefully. Her eyes were red from holding back tears. “Doctor, how’s my foot? Will it affect my career?” As a dancer, a foot injury could ruin her.
“It should be fine. With a few days of rest, you’ll be good to go,” the doctor reassured her.
Margot let out a breath of relief. She thought, “Thank goodness. If it had been more serious, the consequences would’ve been too great!
Just then, Howell walked in.
She said, “Howell, the doctor said it’s not serious, but I need to rest for a couple of days. You should go back to work. Don’t let this delay you. Besides, Joanna might have something on her mind, too…”
“Miss Caldwell, your foot still needs to be monitored for a couple of days. You can’t move around on your own yet. You’ll need someone here to take care of you,” the doctor added.
“It’s fine. I’ll stay here,” Howell said, dismissing the doctor’s concern.
After the doctor left, Margot hesitated, then spoke up, “My manager, Cecelia, is coming back tomorrow. I really appreciate you staying with me today… Do you want me to call Joanna and explain everything?”
“No need.”
Just then, Howell’s phone rang.
“Howell, is it true? You really divorced that woman?” Polly’s voice crackled through the line, as she nearly exploded with urgency.
She was still boiling with anger from being kicked out of the store. She had never been so humiliated in her life.
“What?” Howell replied, his brows furrowing. “How do you know?” He hadn’t told anyone yet.
That bitch told me everything! I’ve never been so humiliated in my life! Thankfully, you divorced her–otherwise, I would’ve been absolutely livid!” Polly’s voice was sharp, but then she brightened up and said, “Howell, I feel so relieved now.

“You’ve finally cut ties with that little tramp. She should’ve been kicked out long ago. Who does she think she is? But tell me, did she take a lot of your money? How else could she afford to shop at such a fancy mall?”
Howell was listening to Polly’s ranting, and a sense of frustration washed over him.
Joanna was nothing like he’d imagined. She left the marriage with nothing, so it was impossible that she had taken a fortune, like Polly was suggesting
But what bothered him more was that she had been shopping in a high–end mall. He thought, ‘Could that really be her? Something isn’t adding up. Maybe I should have Hanley look into it.
Polly, growing more animated, continued, “Howell, I heard that Margot is back. When will you bring her home to meet me? Margot has really made a name for herself, hasn’t she?
“She’s an international dancer now. The Buckley family deserves a daughter–in–law who matches your status. Someone like Margot would be perfect.
“Mom, I’ve got work to do,” Howell replied, his patience running thin. He ended the call abruptly, not waiting for her to say more.
On the other side, Margot, who had overheard part of the conversation, felt a surge of happiness. She thought, ‘Have they really divorced? If so, that is great news for me!
In the end, Howell was the best option–no one could compare. He had it all–status, wealth, everything. She’d spent the last few years chasing her dreams, becoming more accomplished. Now that she was back, she was determined to seize this opportunity.
A week later, at the design department of Menzie Group, located in the CBD International Trade Tower, employees were buzzing with excitement. They were all preparing for the arrival of their new director.
Rumors had been circulating for days that a mysterious design director was joining the company, and the entire department was eager to find out
more.
“What’s the new director like? I heard she’s a woman. Is that true?”
A woman? Do you think she’s the CEO’s mistress, brought in through the back door?”
“Could be. Let’s wait and see. Oh, I heard her car is downstairs–everyone get ready to welcome her!”
Everyone held their breath, watching the entrance. Soon, a striking figure appeared, walking confidently toward them.
She wore a sleek, white tailored suit, her long, voluminous hair giving off a seductive, sophisticated vibe. Her makeup was flawless, and her features stunning.
With a curvaceous figure and an air of cool elegance, she exuded an undeniable presence. No one could deny the power she radiated.
Joanna entered the room, a confident smile playing on her red lips. “Hello, everyone. I’m Joanna, and I’ll be your new design director. I look forward to working with all of you.”
For a moment, everyone stood frozen. This wasn’t at all what they had expected. They thought, ‘She is so young–and now, she is the design director? How could that be?”
The more the employees whispered to each other, the more they bought into the rumors. They thought, “This woman has to be the CEO’s mistress.‘ The way they looked at her was filled with skepticism.
*Meeting in ten minutes!” Joanna said, her voice clear and commanding, before heading into her office.
The others couldn’t help but gather in a huddle, gossiping.
Oh my God, we were right! She’s just a kid–how does she deserve this position? If anyone should be the director, it’s definitely Sirena!”
Sirena Field, who had remained silent since Joanna’s arrival, felt a growing confusion. She couldn’t wrap her head around why Joanna had suddenly shown up as the new design director.
This position was supposed to be hers. Over the years, her hard work and abilities had been well recognized. But now, it seemed like the only reason Joanna had gotten the job was because she was young–and probably good in bed.
‘Is that all it takes? Does she even know shit about design?‘ she wondered. ‘And she looks so damn young. Who knows where the hell she even studied? Is she really the one picked to design for international dancer Margot?‘
