“No, I worked so hard to bring her here, just so I could punish her for what she did to us. She ruined our lives, Cain.” Aliya shouted
“Tm letting her go now” Cain said, walking around the chair and pulling my wrist out of the ropes.!!
“Stop that, leave her alone.” She screamed 8
“Elle, we have to go.” Cain urged, as he loosened the ropes and helped me out of the chair, holding me too tight.!!
But I yanked my arm away from him and stepped back. “Why are you even here, Cain? Why are you trying to save me now?%
He ran a hand through his hair out of frustration. Because I can’t just let you die, Elle
I let out a bitter laugh and shook my head. “Now, you care about me? After everything you did? After you let Aliya destroy my entire life? Don’t want to act like some hero, Cain. You don’t love me. You never did, you only wanted me for my father’s company and I’m not your wife.
“You’re wrong.. Elle. I always loved you.”
The words cut through me, but I refused to show it I glanced up at him. “I don’t believe you, Cain. Why are you really here?70
Cain exhaled sharply “Because I need to fix what I broke. I need to save you, Elle, even if you never forgive me.
“You can’t erase what you already did, Cain. You took everything from me. And now, you expect me to just trust you?”
“I don’t expect anything from you, Elle. But I won’t let you die because of my mistakes.”
“Enough” Aliya shouted, cutting Cain off.
We both turned to see her standing at the exit of the building, holding a gun in her hands. Tears rolled down her face, her mascara was smeared, and and her eyes were filled with raga.
Her hands were shaking, and and her gaze fixed on me with hatred.
“Why did everyone always love you, Elle?” She whispered, her voice shaking. “You were always the perfect little daughter, the one everyone adored. And I was just the unwanted stepdaughter, not good enough for anything.“1
frozen, my eyes widening. “Aliya,” I said softly.”
She let out a bitter laugh, moving the gun to one hand. “You would never know what it was like? Watching everyone ignore you? Father never saw me as his daughter I was just his wife’s child he had to take care of.”
Cain took a step forward, holding out his hands. “Aliya, put the gun down. Now!”
She ignored him, still looking at me. “You never even knew? You lived your perfect little life while I had to fight for his love. And then you were going to marry perfection and become the CEO of King Corporation, while I had nothing”
My heart was pounding hard in my chest. “That’s why you did all this. You wanted to destroy me because I had the perfect life“X

Cain moved and stood between Aliya and me. “Aliya, if you ever cared about me, if you ever loved me even for a second stop this madness and let Elle go.“%
Her face twisted in pain. “You were supposed to love me. But now you are choosing her”
“I was never yours, Aliya. You used me, manipulated me, just to get revenge on Elle. I loved you for years but you wouldn’t even look at me, but once you wanted your revenge you came running.“%

“No, I’m not moving, drop the gun Cain shouted.
“I want to kill her just like I killed your child growing in her stomach.” She screamed.
Cain froze, his eyes widening with shock. “What?!” he echoed.
“Yes, I did it. She was pregnant and I pushed her down the stairs. I wasn’t going to let her have your baby, that wasn’t part of the plan.”
“How could you?” Cain roared, his body shaking with rage.
Aliya’s expression faltered as she stared at Cain. ”
That wasn’t part of our plan, she wasn’t meant to be your actual wife, we just needed to get the property signatures”
“How could you do this?” Cain echoed, ignoring her.&
Aliya let out a sob, her eyes filled with fear. For a moment, we all stood in silence. Then, in one second, Aliya suddenly moved and aimed the gun directly at me.
Cain’s body moved fast and then he was in front of me, standing between Allya a and me. It happened so fast I could hardly see a thing.
