Chapter 14%
The sailor walked up to me, his steps
ps slow and steady on the wooden dock. His face looked worn from years at sea and countless raids, but his eyes were kind, though cautious just like when we were on water. I couldn’t help but stare at the ship behind him. Its sails billowed in the wind, and my heart raced just looking at it.
“My lady,” he called.
I turned to him, trying to steady my breathing, “Can I see my pack from here?” I asked quickly, almost breathless.
He tilted his head, looking out toward the horizon, “From here? No,” he said. “The sea hides too much. You’d need to be on the ship to see anything like that.”
“Only through the ship can you watch them like a screen,” He added.
“I saw them from the ship before. I saw their mountains,” I said softly. My fingers played with the edge of my dress as I spoke.
He shook his head, a small smile crept out from his lips. “You’re closer to them on the water than here. That’s how the sea works. It shows you what the land hides.“”
I bit my lip, Lyca, stirring inside me. “I want to go back to the ship.” I said firmly.
“Who am I to say no…..Jareth instructed to make your stay pleasant” He bowed.
“Now if you will let me…”
“Ah ah. Please ” | muttered, telling him to pave way.
He studied me for a moment, then stepped aside, gesturing toward the gangplank. “Then go on. The sea’s waiting”
I didn’t wait for him to say anything else. My feet moved on their own, carrying me back to the ship.
As I stepped onto the deck, the salty breeze hit my face, and I felt Lyca stir again. She wasn’t bitter and laying claims, she just wanted
to run.
I moved to the railing, my hands gripping the wood as I looked out over the endless water.
“Do you see them now?” the sailor asked, appearing at my side.
“You mean I shouldn’t go to that part of the ship? I could see them in the water?” Lexclaimed.
“Jareth is not just a rogue. He mastered the art of talking to even the moon goddess and the seas.”
“Do you see them now?” the sailor asked for confirmation, appearing at my side.
I shook my head. “Not yet,” I whispered.!
“Give it time,” he said. “The sea always shows you what you’re meant to see.“!
“Including the pack you abandoned“}
“Let me out. It’s time to run” Lyca growled and I laughed out loud. The Alpha forbade me to run for more than 10 years.
I took a step back, the wolf taking over My breath was faster as my body vibrated with energy.
Before I could think, I was running. Lyca and I were running
The sailor’s voice called after me, but I ignored it, laughing freely as my wolf took control. The deck was no longer just wood under my feet; it was the earth, the wind, the freedom I longed for. Away from punishment!
For the first time, I truly felt like I was where I belonged. And where I belonged was away from the pack that only saw me as a stray, a stray not worthy of a shot at life
Then I saw the Alpha’s headquarters from the waters too.
But I wanted some privacy. I went back to where the sailor brought me earlier looking through the thick glass screen. My eyes locked onto the scene below, where Lilith was rushing up the steps, her face worried 8.
Mom! I’m sorry! Please, I didn’t mean it! I swear, I’m sorry!” Lilith kept saying, holding her hands up like she was begging
Mother didn’t look happy. She just crossed her arms and stared at her “Lilith, stop lying. I know you’ve been tricking me for so long. I’m done. Just go.”
Lilith looked shocked, “What? No, I’m your daughtert Please listen, Mother!“.
“First. I am not your mother. Second, respect my name. I brought you in, raised you as my own. I am the Luna of this pack and I go with justice.”X
“I am your daughter Lilith protested, not giving up.)
“No,” Mother said. “You’re not my real daughter. Get out. Find Lyria, and show her your face, Go!?!
Lilith froze. “No! Please, Mom, don’t kick me out, be better, I swear.”
But Mother didn’t care. She turned away and waved her hand. “Go away. I can’t listen to you anymore.”
But Mother wasn’t listening. She waved her hand dismissively, turning to walk away. “Get out now. And don’t come back until you’ve faced the truth.”
“Even if you die accepting the truth”
I watched it all through the glass. I didn’t feel anything. No anger, no sadness. Just… nothing.X
And then, it happened &
Lilith, standing there unmoved, clearly hadn’t expected Mother to turn so quickly. Before Lilith could react, Mother lunged at her, her hands outstretched as though to grab her by the neck.
“Mathar waiti” | ilith criad but it was ton late
2:23 PM C
“Mother, wait” Lilith cried, but it was too late.
I could see everything so clearly, but it was almost like I wasn’t even there. I couldn’t look away, though,
Lilith, fast as always, dodged the attack, stepping aside at the last second. Mother missed, and her own momentum sent her crashing to the ground.
Mother was on the ground, holding her leg, and she was mad. “You little brat! Look what you did!“?
Lilith stepped back more. “I didn’t mean to! I’m sorry, Mom, I didn’t want this!”
Mother shouted from the ground, “Stop lying! You’re the reason everything is messed up!
Lilith shook her head, “No! No, that’s not true! I’m sorry!”
But Mother just kept yelling. “I don’t care! You ruined everything, Lilith! You’re nothing but trouble! Trouble a wolf should avoid”
Lilith looked around, her eyes wild with fear. She started backing away, looking anywhere but at Mother, as if hoping the ground would swallow her petite figure 8
I could see it all. I could hear every word, every breath they took.
But nothing inside me moved.
Lilith was silent for a moment, and then she turned and ran, I watched her run like she was being chased, her legs were shaking as she left the Alpha’s quarters behind.
Her wolf took over!
Mother, still lying on the ground, cursed in pain, “Get back here, you coward!”
Blood trickled from her sides.
But Lilith didn’t listen. She was already gone, probably halfway to wherever she was going to hide. Something she loved doing while blaming the old Lyria 8
Suddenly, I saw some wolves in the Alpha’s quarters. They froze when they saw Mother on the floor. Their eyes went wide. Panic spreading fast. They knew they would be punished by the Alpha.
One of the wolves ran to Mother, his voice shaky. “Luna! Luna, are you okay?”
“Oh my. We are roasted. The Alpha will tear us apart“!!
The others rushed over, trying to help. One of them barked orders. “We need to get her to the healer’s den. Now!”
“Yes, she has lost so much blood. Even her wolf is injured badly”
They carefully lifted Mother, one holding her head, another her legs, I could see her face, her eyes said it all–she was regretting. The wolf with her barked to the others. “Hurry! The Alpha mustn’t see her in the shape!“?
Another wolf turned and ran. “I’ll go get the Alpha!“3
“Wasn’t her daughter with her minutes ago?”
“I heard them exchanging words too before I went to fetch the herbal medicines for Luna“!
“If Lyria was here, she would have handled this….so sad her sister and mate betrayed her“:
“I hope Lyria is finally free wherever she is… I hope her wolf, Lyca get to run freely after these years tpo”
I stood still, not feeling anything. I watched them rush Mother away, their paws pounding against the ground. They were in a hurry.
Then it went blank.
I didn’t leave the window side, I was staring at the empty scene. It was quiet now, the only sound the soft creak of the ship’s wood as the wind shifted
I didn’t know what I was supposed to feel, I should’ve felt something, right? Anger? Maybe satisfaction? But no, all–felt was… empty. Just then, the sailor walked up next to me, his hand resting lightly on the railing. He said nothing, but I could feel his presence. “Did you see that?” I asked, my voice flat, like I was speaking about a scene from a book I didn’t care about. Something from the Alpha Library
“Yeah,” he replied, his tone cautious. “It wasn’t pretty
“I don’t care,” I said simply, turning to face him. “It doesn’t matter
He raised an eyebrow, clearly not expecting that “You sure?”!
I looked back out at the empty dock, my thoughts swirling like the water below us.
“I’m sure.” I said. And I was &
I got out of the ship with a sigh, leaving it behind as I went back to the land. The wall sailor’s eyes never left mine, like he wanted to say something but decided against it.X
