Chapter 183
I stood on the edge of the bridge, my eyes narrowed as the winds howled around us. Foggy, ever the joker, grinned at me with that mischievous gleam in his eyes. “So, Lyria,” he said, his voice carrying over the wind, “How about we get down from here and explore the land of no return? I bet you could find yourself another mate down there. Maybe even a better one, eh?
“I am talking to you?” He looked pissed
I rolled my eyes, crossing my arms. “You’re mad.” I told him, shaking my head. “I’m not going anywhere with you to find another mate. I’ve had enough of that nonsense.”
Foggy laughed, the sound light and carefree. “Ah, come on. You’ve got to admit, it’s worth a try. Maybe ill race you and your wolf III teach
you how to attack like a rogue. You know, like the ones who don’t follow rules.
“Just because you are my sallor doesn’t give you the right to form an alliance with me, Foggy” I mentioned.!!
“Talking about someone who insisted I was Foggy!”
I narrowed my gaze at him. “You’re not teaching me anything. I’m not racing with you either.”
“Now let me be” I added.
But before I could argue any more, Foggy grabbed my Ceremonial blades, his wolf standing beside him, eyes gleaming with excitement. “Too late,” he said. “I’ve already got them. You’re racing me whether you like it or not. I’ll leave you to survive on your own in two days, My Lady. You’ll learn how to fight like a true rogue.
*I am a wolf. The Alpha’s daughter–probably adopted one. Not a rogue!”
“Well…?” He kept insisting
I felt my heart skip. “Go ahead and leave, Foggy. Maybe you don’t know if you’re my shadow or not, but you’re certainly not in charge of me
not.”
He gave me a sly grin and, with a quick motion, mounted his wolf. “We’ll see. I’ll teach you something today, whether you like it or
With that I had no choice but to race alongside him, both of us with our wolves charging forward. The ground beneath us was rocky, uneven, but we moved as one–me and my wolf, side by side with his. The wind whipped past, and the sound of paws hitting the earth. was all I could hear. I pushed myself harder, wanting to prove him wrong, but Foggy always stayed a few paces ahead.
“You’re getting slower!” he called back with a laugh “Come on, you can do better than that!”
I gritted my teeth, pushing my wolf harder. “I’ll beat you.” I called, though I wasn’t sure if I actually could. The gap between us was narrowing, but I knew Foggy was always full of tricks.
Suddenly, ahead of us, I spotted something small darting across the path. Pups. Little wolves, laughing and racing each other in a chaotic game of tag. I slowed, my heart softening at the sight⠀
“You can’t win me” One boasted to the other.
One of them, smaller than the others, tried to cut across a shortcut and ended up tripping. The others caught up quickly, wagging their tails and laughing. I couldn’t help but smile at the sight. It reminded me of the time when Lilith–8
I shook my head. No. I couldn’t think of her now. Not here, not while I was training. Foggy wouldn’t let me forget.
Foggy slowed down too, his wolf pausing as we watched the pups play. “See? Even the little ones know how to race,” he said with a grin. “You’ve got to keep your eyes on them. Learn from the pups. ”
I chuckled, shaking my head. “I don’t think I learn much from these little cheaters.”
“I won’t be surprised if they grow up to be like you rogues Outcasts with no regards or remorse”
Foggy raised an eyebrow. “Cheaters, huh? You know, my lady, you’re starting to sound like a rogue already.”
I gave him a sideways glance, ignoring the teasing. “You’re impossible, I muttered, but my heart was lighter than it had been in days.
As we continued forward, I noticed that Foggy had already darted ahead, his wolf taking off again as if he hadn’t stopped for anything. “Hey!” I shouted after him, “You’re not getting away that easily!”
But of course, he was already too far ahead. I urged my wolf on again, this time feeling the fire inside me, the thrill of the race, the pull of the chase.
By the time we reached the end of the clearing, we were both panting, our wolves equally worn out. Foggy jumped down from his. wolf, looking smug as usual. “Well, that wasn’t bad,” he said, wiping a hand across his brow. “You’ve got potential.”
I couldn’t help but laugh. “Yeah, I could say the same about you. But don’t get used to me racing you.”
“I would be leaving in two days….I need me some rush and it won’t come from you.”
