Chapter 32%
Nok and I went out to the rural parts of the territory to see how they were faring.
Nok pecked me lightly on the forehead, his lips brushing my skin. “I’ve got pack meetings to attend to. You want an escort to your chamber or you want to go visit Rudina?” he asked, his voice low!!
I shook my head, smiling. Tl be fine. I don’t need anyone following me around.”
“I am not going to Rudina’s today…”
He gave me a look, one that I knew meant he wasn’t completely convinced, but he didn’t press. “Alright. But don’t stay out too late, Lynia And don’t stress yourself “R
I raised an eyebrow at him, teasing. “You’re getting bossy.”
He smiled, a little grin tugging at his lips. “I care about you. Don’t forget that”
“Yeah, yeah,” I said, turning away to head towards the forest. “I’ll be careful. You go take care of your pack stuff,“\
He gave me one last look, his expression serious now “Don’t push yourself, Lyria I mean it.“8
“I won’t,” I said, smiling sweetly at him. I could feel the warmth from his gaze on my back as I walked off.”
Onca Nok left, I shifted into my wolf form, feeling the power in my muscles as I ran through the forest. It felt freeing–nothing but the rush of the wind and the sounds of the woods around me. My wolf pushed me to go faster, farther. I let her take over completely, enjoying the freedom for a few moments.
But then, something slammed into me–another wolf. I was knocked back but quickly regained my balance. My ears perked up as 1 looked at the wolf in front of me.
She stared at me for a moment, then her eyes widened. “Lyria?”
I froze, recognizing her voice immediately. “You”
The wolf smiled widely, not even giving me a chance to react. She bounded forward, wrapping her arms around me in a tight hug. I stood there, shocked, not knowing whether to push her off or just accept it
“What are you doing here?” I managed to ask, but she didn’t answer night away
“Damon… Damon’s been looking for you everywhere! He’s been worried sick!” She pulled away, still holding onto my shoulders like she couldn’t quite believe I was standing there. “And your mother… she hasn’t been the same. Everyone… we all- She paused, looking at me with wide eyes. “We’re sorry. For everything.70
“Sorry for always judging you
I blinked. “You’re sorry? For what?” I almost laughed. “You and your pack designed the mating ceremony for me and Damon. Even when I told you to take down the decorations, you didn’t“!
“Well, because of you all, I found peace. I found myself and you are here too? Someone wake me up“)
The wolf looked guilty, her ears dropping slightly, “Lyria, it wasn’t supposed to happen like that. We… we didn’t knew Lilith and Damon had something together. They committed a big abomination, Damon regretted his mistake and henever stopped looking for you. You’re his–he’s been waiting for you.”
