Chapter 34%
Nok and I sat outside, enjoying the quiet aftemoon. He kept staring at me, and it was annoying
“Why are you looking at me like that?” I asked, narrowing my eyes..
“Because you’re beautiful,” he said, grinning like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
I frowned. “1 look the same as always”
He leaned closer, his green eyes locking onto mine. “No, you look beautiful only when you’re looking at me.”
My face heated instantly. “You’re so full of yourself,” I shot back, crossing my arms.
“And you love it he said, that smirk never leaving.!!
I scoffed. “In your dreams. “I
“Oh, every single night, Lynia,” he teased, his voice low and playful.}
I grabbed a small pebble and threw it at him, laughing when it bounced off his chest. “You’re impossible”
“And you’re adorable when you throw tantrums,” he said, catching my wrist as I reached for another pebble. His touch sent a shiver down my spine, but I didn’t let him see it. He was too full of his abilities and he won’t stop bragging playfully.
“I’m not throwing a tantrum,” I said, pulling my hand back
“Sure you’re not,” he said, laughing softly.
Just then, Nok’s mother, Febby, walked out, holding a tray with two steaming cups. She paused when she saw us. “Well, well,” she sald, her eyes twinkling. “You two look perfect together”
“Perfectly annoying,” I muttered under my breath, but Febby heard me.
She laughed, her voice light and warm. “Oh, Lyria. You pretend to be annoyed, but I see the way you look at him “X
“I do not” I said quickly, glaring at Nok, who looked way too pleased with himself.
“You do,” Febby insisted, setting the tray down. “And it’s wonderful. You both belong together.”
Nok reached for one of the cups, handing it to me before taking the other. “Thanks, Mother,” he said, giving her a small smile.
“Drink up,” she said, sitting down beside us. “It’s my special herbal tea. Good for the soul.“!!!
I sniffed the tea in reluctance. It smelled different. Not like the bitter herbal teas Td had before.!!
“Go on,” Nok said, watching me. “It’s not poison.”
I shot him a look. “I wasn’t thinking that
“Nok!” I was embarrassed.
He raised an eyebrow. “You hesitated “B
I took a small sip, and to my surprise, it wasn’t bitter. It was sweet, with a hint of mint. This… isn’t awful, I admitted.
Nok laughed. “High praise coming from you.”
Febby smiled at me, her expression soft “I added a little honey this time. I thought you might prefer it that way.”
“Thank you,” I said quietly, touched by the gesture.
“Anything for my future daughter–in–law,” she said, winking at me.
“Mother,” Nok said, his voice full of mock waming. He does that perfectly and he made it very attractive. “What? It’s true,” Febby said, grinning.
