Chapter 43%
“I don’t know why Nok left everything to me,” I muttered, threading a needle for the fifth time. My hands were steady, but the endless work was starting to get to me.X
Rudina laughed beside me, her fingers moving deftly as she worked on the hem of the dress. “Because he knows you’ll make it perfect. And let’s be honest, would you really trust him with embroidery?”
I chuckled despite myself. “No, he’d probably end up tearing the fabric and blaming the needle.”
Rudina grinned. “Exactly. So stop complaining. You’re doing great, Lyria”
I held up the piece of fabric i was working on and frowned. “It doesn’t look great. This flower looks like a squashed bug.”
Rudina leaned over to inspect it. “Hmm.. yeah, it’s terrible.”
“Thanks for the encouragement, I said dryly, but she burst into laughter
“Tim kidding! It’s not that bad. Look, just add a few more petals here.” She guided my hand, her tone light and cheerful.
“Fine,” Imuttered, following her instructions. “If this dress turns out awful, I’m blaming you.”
“It won’t. By the time we’re done, you’ll look like the most beautiful wolf bride in all of Wereworld”
“Is that your way of saying I’m not beautiful now? I teased, arching an eyebrow at her 3
“Oh, please,” Rudina scoffed. “You know you’re gorgeous. You’ve got that whole mysterious beauty‘ thing going on. Nok’s practically drooling over you every second”
I felt my cheeks heat up at her words, but I didn’t respond. Instead, I focused on the embroidery, trying to ignore the fluttering in my chest.
Rudina smirked. “See? Even the thought of him makes you blush”
“Rudina,” I warned, but my voice lacked any real edge.R
“Alright, alright, I’ll stop.” She held up her hands in mock surrender. “But seriously, this dress is going to blow everyone away. Look at this detailing!”
I glanced at her work and had to admit, it was stunning. The intricate patterns she’d added to the sleeves were delicate and elegant.
“You’re really good at this,” I said honestly Her designs looked like the one I did on the wedding dress I burnt.”
“Of course I am,” she said with a grin. “You didn’t think I’d let you wear something subpar, did you?“R
“OK.I know I am talking too much….Just can’t contain my excitement”
I rolled my eyes. “No, I didn’t“}
We worked in silence for a while, the sound of our laughter replaced by the soft rustle of fabric and the occasional clink of needles. It was calming in a way, a moment of peace amidst the chaos of preparation
When we finally finished, I held up the dress and turned to Rudina. “What do you think?”
Her eyes widened as she took it in. “Lynia, it’s perfect “X
I looked at the dress again, my fingers brushing over the embroidery. The fabric shimmered softly in the light, the rare designs catching every detail. It wasn’t just a dress–it was a masterpiece. And I didn’t care if I wasn’t the only one that made it
“I love it,” I said quietly, a smile tugging at my lips.
Rudina grinned. “I told you it’d be amazing. Nok’s going to lose his mind when he sees you in this.”
I couldn’t help but laugh. “Let’s hope he doesn’t faint. I need him standing for the ceremony.”
“Oh, he’ll be standing, alright, Rudina said with a wink, and I shoved her playfully.
“Stop it,” I said, but I was laughing.
