Chapter 4
Ever since the incident with the oxygen tube, Kristina had installed surveillance cameras in Trenton’s bedroom.
At this moment, she was in the adjacent room, observing Tessa’s every move through the monitor.
When she saw Tessa taking pictures of the dinner location, Stanley’s WhatsApp account, and his phone number, Kristina’s lips curled into a smirk, her eyes flashing with a bloodthirsty chill.
Without hesitation, she emailed her plan to the restaurant: a romantic couple’s dinner, a sensual suite in a five–star hotel, and a room key card hidden conspicuously inside the cake.
“A scumbag like Stanley deserves a bitch like Tessa, Kristina thought to herself. She hoped Tessa would seize this opportunity and cling to Stanley tightly.
After setting everything in motion, Kristina grabbed Trenton’s medication and returned to the bedroom, only to run into Belinda at the door.
“Oh, Kristina, are you about to have a chat with Mrs. McClain? Then I won’t interrupt–Ill be heading back now.” Tessa hurriedly picked up her handbag, looking flustered and guilty, her head lowered as she scurried away.
Kristina maintained a calm and gentle smile, her innocent demeanor never arousing any suspicion from Tessa.
Belinda’s gaze fell on the medication in Kristina’s hands–a long list of complex and tedious prescriptions. Even the house staff often found it troublesome, yet Kristina meticulously handled everything herself. Belinda couldn’t help but feel a wave of emotion in her heart.
“Kristina, come in and have some chicken soup,” she said. “You’ve lost weight from all the exhaustion these past few days.”
After hanging Trenton’s IV, Kristina, unsuspecting, drank the entire bowl of chicken soup.
The moment she set the bowl down, Belinda suddenly grasped her hand. “I mentioned the matter of having a child last time. Have you given it any thought?”
Kristina was about to brush it off with some vague excuse, but Belinda continued in a solemn tone, “You really should consider it. Trenton may not be awake yet, but I spoke to the doctor–there’s nothing wrong with him in that regard
Kristina froze. In what regard?”
Belinda merely smiled and left without answering.
For a moment, Kristina’s mind completely stalled. As soon as she processed what was happening, she rushed toward the bedroom door in a panic.
Just as she expected, it was already locked.
Immediately after, an unfamiliar heat surged through her body. A shiver ran down Kristina’s spine as she stared in disbelief at the bowl of chicken soup, a terrifying suspicion forming in her mind.
But things spiraled beyond her expectations. As the inexplicable heat clouded her rationality, she struggled to support her weakening body. stumbling toward Trenton step by step.
The air grew thick with an indescribable tension, and the atmosp
tinged with undeniable intimacy.
As sunlight once again streamed into the bedroom, Kristina woke up on the spacious king–sized bed, only to find herself curled up in Trenton’s embrace, their bodies intimately pressed together.
The wild memories of last night surged back like a titlal | wave. Her mind exploded.
tha deafening boom
The golden light traced the bridge of Trenton’s sharp nose, landing on the curve of his thin lips. His sculpted side profile, as flawless as a god’s, was almost impossible to look away from.
At this moment, the usual cold sharpness between his brows had softened, replaced with a rare hint of gentleness.
Kristina’s heart pounded wildly. She stared at Trenton’s face, feeling both flustered and embarrassed. In the end, she scrambled off the bed, repeatedly whispering apologies as she fled
The next second, a series of notification sounds chimed from her phone. It was from the private investigator she had hired last night–he had made a major discovery.
He had sent Kristina Bood of photos: Tessa and Stanley entering a hotel in each other’s arms, passionately kissing in the elevator, Stanley, dead drunk, groping Tess all over…

Kristina forced herself to finish looking at the photos despite the nausea rising in her throat. By the time she was done, her eyes were filled with a bone–chilling coldness. It seemed Tessa had already fallen into her trap.

Cripping her phone tightly, Kristina immediately set out to handle the photos, completely unaware that as she left the bedroom, Trenton’s long fingers twitched slightly.
Tessa woke up from her dream, only to find that Stanley had Ich behind just a few hundred dollars. He was long gone, with no intention of taking responsibility.
She didn’t even have time to get mad before her phone suddenly rang–Kristina was calling. “Tessa, there’s something I wanted to ask you first,
“Mom and Dad have been pushing me to arrange a marriage for you, so I picked a few honest and reliable men. They might not come from wealthy backgrounds like ours, but they have great character. Want to take a look!”
Tessa’s eyes widened instantly, and she nearly crushed her phone in a rage. Im not going.”
She married into the McClain family and now wants to marry me off to some poor loser? What a joke. She acts all saintly and pretends to pity me
what a shameless bitch, she cursed Kristina silently.
On the other end of the line, Kristina continued her act with a patient tone. “You see, Mom and Dad don’t care about how much money you make. As long as you find a hardworking and reliable man, as long as you’re happy-
“I’m not going, and it’s none of your business” Tessa cut her off coldly and hung up, wishing she could tear Kristina to pieces right then and there,
She couldn’t lose Stanley. She had to marry him and trample Kristina underfoot, laughing at her downfall.
Just then, her phone screen lit up again–it was a forwarded message from Kristina in the family group chat: [This is my professor’s relative. Please help share]
The first two lines of the donation message read: [I’m an unmarried single mother..]
Tessa, who was just 22 and still a bit naive, stared at that phrase–and suddenly, an idea formed in her mind.
