Chapter 6
A sense of unknown fear mingled with anger swept over Kristina in an instant. She began to tremble uncontrollably, instinctively turning her head to look back.
She saw the private doctors involved in the emergency treatment and the entire medical team. Those faces were strikingly familiar and unforgettable.
In her previous life, it was these very people who had posed as doctors and nurses, deceiving her into believing that Stanley was her s
savior and tricking her into signing a donation agreement, all while they harvested her eyes.
They t
turned out to be the McClain family’s private medical team
Kristina had thought her death was orchestrated by Stanley and Tessa alone, but she now realized that there might be countless masterminds behind the scenes, and possibly the entire McClain family had wanted her dead.
In that moment, the faces of the McClain family members she had seen in her previous life flashed quickly through her mind. She didn’t know how many of them had blood on their hands, or who among them might be innocent.
‘Could Trenton possibly be innocent? She wondered.
The sound of a phone ringing suddenly pulled Kristina back to reality. Her hand trembling, she answered the call and heard yet another bombshell -Trenton had woken up.
Kristina couldn’t understand why Trenton would wake up at this time. According to her memories from her previous life, he should have remained in a coma for at least another three months
On her way back to the McClain Manor, Kristina tried to organize her chaotic thoughts. First and foremost, she needed to pacify Trenton. Until she had her revenge, she needed to keep her identity as Mrs. McClain.
At this point in time, Tessa and Stanley were easy to deal with. What Kristina needed to do was to dig deeper into how many members of the McClain family were involved in the murder from her previous life.
She would not let a single murderer escape and would make them all pay the price.
Despite her mental preparation, Kristina hesitated for a moment as she entered the bedroom. Suddenly, she saw Trenton’s deep, penetrating eyes.
Trenton was seated in a wheelchair, dressed in a black nightgown that only enhanced his imposing presence. He exuded an air of regal authority in every movement,
He was indeed awake. His nearly perfect face had sharp contours, with a pair of deep, languid eyes beneath his sword–like eyebrows. The cold gaze in his eyes carried an aura of command.
Kristina felt as if she were done for. From the look in his eyes, she could tell that he didn’t like her.
She tried hard to recall, and indeed, it was true. In her previous life, she had helped Stanley out of a sense of gratitude and had been quite hostile towards Trenton even before they were married. It seemed that Trenton had not forgotten
As she was contemplating how to break the ice, Trenton suddenly moved. He slowly raised his arm, reaching out towards Kristina
Kristina’s eyes widened. She hesitated for a moment, then tentatively placed her hand on his. Trenton’s warm, dry hand slowly closed around hers, gripping it tightly and caressing it gently.
Then he spread her slender fingers and interlocked them with his own. The gesture seemed almost childjike, as if he were seeking affection
“Y–you.. Kristina was at a loss for words.
Suddenly, she heard a voice say, “Oh, Mrs. McClain, you’re back! seems you two have a great relationship. Mr. McClain just woke up and he’s already clinging to you, wanting to hold your hand.”
The doctors and nurses entered with their equipment, conducting a full–body examination on Trenton while explaining to her, “Mr. McClain is awake, but not fully awake”
“Whut do you mean by that?” Kristina didn’t quite understand.
Soon Kristina realized what the doctors meant. Although Trenton had opened his eyes and could move his body, he was still different from a healthy person
He now seemed more like a child of eight or nine, communicating his intentions through gestures rather than words. He didn’t speak and couldn’t

think as he used to, let alone work.
He seemed to trust and rely on Kristina deeply. Throughout the examination, he held her hand tightly, interlocking their fingers and never letting go. He kept his gaze fixed on her, making her blush profusely.
Once the doctors and nurses left. Trenton gently tugged at her hand, signaling for her to come closer. Kristina’s heart raced. As soon as she moved closer, he pulled her into his embrace.
Trenton wrapped his strong arms around her waist, burying his face in her soft blouse, his nose gently touching her abdomen–a gesture of dependency and intimacy. Kristina’s face turned bright red. In the quiet bedroom, the only sound was the pounding of her heart.
u like this?” Kristina raised their interlocked hands and waved them in front of Trenton.
“Do… do you
Trenton nodded slowly, holding onto her like a large dog refusing to let go, as if she were a precious treasure.
Kristina was, of course, delighted. Trenton had once been her archenemy. In her previous life, at the height of her success, she could never have imagined what an exceptional woman it would take to marry him.
And now, he treasured her as if she were his most precious possession.
“Do you know my name?” she asked.
Trenton looked up, his eyes filled with affection and tenderness. He moved his lips and spoke in a hoarse, slow voice, “Kristina”
Suddenly, Kristina remembered what Tessa had told her just before her death in her previous life: Trenton was willing to give her a large portion of the McClain family’s assets,
On a whim, she asked Trenton, “If everyone wanted me dead and offered you a large portion of the McClain family’s wealth in exchange for my life, would you agree?”
Trenton nuzzled against her in his embrace, holding her even tighter. “I want you. I just want you.”
