Chapter 8
Trenton’s thin lips were pursed slightly, his expression aloof and cold. At this moment, the clinginess he had shown to Kristina was nowhere to be found.
Following the voice, he glanced up, then continued with his own actions, treating Stanley as if he were invisible.
That casual, dismissive look conveyed an air of superiority, the kind that belonged to someone at the top of the hierarchy. It was condescending and carried an intense sense of pressure.
Stanley’s body johted violently, and he couldn’t help but feel a chill run down his spine. He felt awful that Trenton could still dominate him even with the intelligence of an eight–year–old.
Stanley had no idea how Trenton had managed to do so, and it felt as if something was gnawing bercely at his insides. He clenched his fists tightly. so angry he felt like exploding.
“Trenton, you must have deceived Grandma with your looks, right?” he scoffed
Straightening up, he folded his arms across his chest and looked down at Trenton with a sneer, his words dripping with sarcasm. “You’ve become a fool, and Grandma actually still wants to hand over the position of power to you!”
“Let me tell you something this family is mine!” he went on, “You couldn’t beat me when you were fully functional, and now there’s no way I’m just going to hand over the McClain family to you.”
As he spoke, he reached out to push Trenton. Behind the rehab equipment was a swimming pool.

When Trenton was four, a moment of negligence from the household staff had caused him to fall into the pool and nearly drown. Since then, he had developed a psychological trauma that no amount of therapy could cure.
The moment Stanley’s hands touched Trenton’s back, a flash of malicious excitement crossed his eyes. “Go to hell”
However, Trenton’s body nimbly shifted to the side, avoiding the push. At the same time, he suddenly raised his hand and slapped Stanley’s back hard.
Losing control of his body, Stanley lurched forward and plunged headfirst into the pool. With a loud splash, water sprayed everywhere.
Soaked in the pool, Stanley’s hair was drenched and limp, making him look like a drowned rat, his earlier arrogance completely gone. He wiped his face with his hand and struggled to climb out of the pool.
But as soon as one of his hands touched the pool wall, Trenton kicked him squarely in the chest. As Stanley’s body fell backward, he couldn’t help but cry out
“Annoying” Trenton said coldly, his lips curling up in a half–smile as he watched Stanley flail and struggle in the water.
Then he turned and walked to the side, opening the electrified control box nearby.
All the equipment here was for rehabilitation, and the swimming pool was no exception. The low–level electric current in the pool could stimulate the body’s meridians, serving a therapeutic purpose.
However, it required a gradual adaptation period under the operation of a professional doctor, starting from a low level and increasing step by step.
Without a second thought, Trenton turned the current to the highest setting-
The entire pool was electrified. Although the electric current was not lethal, Stanley was in extreme discomfort as it surged through his body, Surrounded by electric currents on all sides, he had nowhere to escape.
At the same time, Kristina returned home.
As Kristina entered the house, John was sitting on the couch with a dark expression on his face. “Kristina, what have you done?” he said angrily.
In his fury, he grabbed the ashtray from the coffee table and hurled it at her, shouting, “I only found out from the news that you married a vegetable. Kristina, do you still consider me your father? How could you marry Trenton without consulting anyone!”
Lisa, Kristina’s stepmother, glared at her and said reproachfully, “Didn’t we have everything arranged? With this sudden stunt of yours, how is your father supposed to explain things to Stanley!”
“Come to think of it, Tessa is partly to blame for this,” Lisa said, wiping the corners of her eyes and sighing. “She was so frail that she fell ill on the

day of your wedding to Stanley”
“Had your father and I not rushed her to the hospital, you wouldn’t have dared to cause such a scene at the wedding,” she continued.
“Tessa fell ill What a coincidence, Kristina thought to herself sarcastically. She knew full well that Tessa simply didn’t want to attend her wedding to Stanley,
Tessa’s feigned illness had served two purposes to leave Kristina exposed to gossip at the wedding and to show Kristina her true place in the Bentley family. Such a childish tactic was typical of Tessa.
Kristina ignored Lisa’s words and stared straight at John. Dad. Trenton is not a vegetable. He’s awake now.”
“Kristina, he is awake, but I heard he only has the mental capacity of a seven or eight–year–old.” Tessa suddenly interjected as she descended the
stairs.
Pouting her red lips, she put on a show of sympathy for Kristina. “Kristina, a fool like him doesn’t deserve you?
Kristina suddenly wondered where Tessa had heard about this,
