Chapter 24
The floor beneath Kristina began to shift. A black hole opened up, revealing an endless dark abyss below.
She felt herself going weightless, a terrifying drop making her desperate to grab anything nearby. A freezing wind whipped through the opening. and she figured if she fell, she’d be smushed to pieces. With quick reflexes, Kristina reached out and grabbed Elaine’s ankle.
“What are you doing?” Elaine shrieked as her body pitched forward from Kristina’s pull.
Before she could finish her scream, both of them began to plummet, and the floor quickly closed above them.
They were falling fast, and Kristina adjusted in mid–air to switch places with Elaine, preparing to use her as a cushion when they landed.
With a soft “thump, they landed below. Surprisingly, the underground chamber wasn’t very deep. And instead of hitting a hard floor or any dangerous objects, they fell onto a soft mattress.
The sensor lights on the walls flicked on, illuminating the room. It was crammed with old tables, chairs, beds, and mattresses–it looked like a storage area. But it was odd for a hidden storage room to be located in such a secretive spot.
Kristina frowned. After living in this villa for years, she had never known about this place.
Beneath her, Elaine let out a painful groan, Kristina grabbed her neck, her expression chillingly fierce. “You wanted me to die here, didn’t you? Now that you’re stuck with me, let’s see which of us meets our end first.”
Kristina’s demeanor shifted completely, her eyes filled with a menacing glare. Elaine winced in pain, and the moment their eyes locked, she felt a terrifying chill run down her spine..
Suddenly, Elaine felt a sharp pain in her ear–Kristina yanked the earring straight from her ear. “You crazy woman! How dare you do this to me?” Elaine screamed.
With a gaze as sharp as a knife, Kristina pressed the pointed silver needle of the earring against Elaine’s throat.
Another wave of pain hit Elaine. Just dealing with the pain in her ear made her tremble, and with the needle hovering over her artery, she quickly shut her mouth in fear.
Soon, she began, “Kristina, don’t do anything rash. I’m the daughter of the McClain family. If anything happens to me, you’re finished”
Even now, Elaine was still trying to intimidate Kristina. Kristina let out a bitter laugh, pressing thee deeper into her skin
“I can’t stand when people talk bad about me. The nastier they are, the more I want to get back at them. What did you just call me again! Kristina grinned.
Elaine nervously swallowed, pressing her head and neck as close to the ground as possible. She trembled with fear but still tried to look defiant.
“Kristina, who are you trying to scare? If you’ve got the guts, just do it. I bet you won’t actually kill anyone Elaine said, her voice shaking
“Hmm, another thing I really dislike is when people keep pushing my buttons” Kristina leaned in closer. “You said no one would ever and out happens in this place. Want me to prove you right?”
what
With a sharp smirk, Kristina pressed her thumb harder against the earring, and Elaine could distinctly feel the sharp end digging into her blood vessel. Any deeper, and it seemed like it might actually pierce her main artery.
Kristina clicked her tongue, savoring the pure terror in Elaine’s eyes. “I wonder what it’d look like when blood starts spraying everywhere,” she said, her smile spreading into something that looked completely unhinged.
Elaine went pale, a cold sweat breaking out across her forehead. At that moment, she truly believed Kristina might actually kill her.
“Oh, come on. I was just joking. Look at you, you look like you’re about to cry Kristina laughed, withdrawing her hand from Elaine’s neck.
Then she drew the earring across her own skin, wiped the flowing blood with her finger, and smeared it across her face.
Elaine was still trying to shake off her fear when she was taken aback by Kristina’s movements. But it didn’t take long for her terror to melt into a cold look. “Kristina, are you trying to frame me?”
She pushed herself up and glared daggers at Kristina. “Blood on your face won’t change anything. We’re both stuck here, and unless someone opens that door, you’re not going anywhere”
Kristina squeezed more blood from her wound and smeared it across her face with a twisted grin. She turned to Elaine, arching an eyebrow. “Is that
