I turned back to the TV screen, watching as reporters discussed the downfall of Richard Thome. My phone buzzed again, and I reached for it with an exhausted sigh. It was probably another message from a reporter.
But instead. It was a message from an unknown number
“You think this is over? You think you’ve won? You have no idea what you’ve done. Watch your back, June”
My breath hitched, and my heart raced in my chest.

My hand shook as I handed him the phone. His fingers brushed against my wrist as he took the phone from my hand. His jaw tightened as he read the message, and his body tensed.

He leaned back on the couch. “Why not? We just destroyed Richard’s life. April is on the run. Richard’s empire is crumbling, his reputation is ruined, and he’s most likely going to go to prison for a while. That deserves a drink, don’t you think?”
Thesitated for a moment, but then I exhaled, releasing some of the tension in my body. He was right. We had won a battle today, and we deserved to breathe, even if it was just for a little while.
“Alright, I agreed with a small smile. “Let’s celebrate.”
Killian grinned with delight, standing up from the couch. “That’s my girl.”
