The Abandoned Heir Ch 10

Chapter 10

The room fell silent and my parentsfaces turned ghostly pale. It took them a long moment to react, their bodies stiff with shock

My father lunged forward, grabbing the assistant by the collar. What nonsense are you spouting?! How could Owen have found out? The driver was already sent to prison. And Owenhis legs are crippled. He can’t even leave the house. There’s no way he could’ve discovered the truth!”

My mother’s eyes immediately reddened. She clung to my father’s arm, her voice choked with panic. Darling, what happened to Owen? Hurry and find him! He’s our son. If something happens to him, I won’t be able to live with myself!

Tears spilled down her cheeks as she gripped my father’s sleeve, shaking him in desperation. This is all your fault! I told you, Owen is smart. He just doesn’t say anything. He sees through everything you do.}]

It must’ve been you calling him an adopted son at the company that broke his heart. Go find him! Owen hasn’t even fully recovered yet. If anything else happens to him, I won’t be able to go on either!

My father’s expression finally shifted into sheer panic. The weight of his mistake crashed down on him, threatening to suffocate him. Realizing the gravity of the situation, he immediately released the assistant, his hands trembling.”

You’re right. He’s still recovering. He shouldn’t have gone far. Gather everyone to search for him! Even if you have to turn the city upside down, you must find my son!

The assistant was stunned by their frantic reaction. It took him a moment to gather himself before speaking again.”

Mr. Owen found the hidden medical reports. He also realized that the medicine he was taking had been switched. These are what he left before he disappeared.

The assistant’s voice trembled slightly. He hesitated before adding, I’ll send people out immediately, but too much time has already passed. There’s no guarantee we’ll find him

As soon as the words left his mouth, he hurriedly turned and left.”

My parents collapsed weakly onto their chairs, their hands trembling against the heavy oak table. The lively atmosphere of the grand banquet just outside the private dining room felt like a cruel contrast to the despair pressing down on them

The door creaked open. Ethan strolled in, his gait relaxed, the faint scent of alcohol clinging to his expensive suit. He had just finished toasting with the guests, basking in their praise and admiration. But upon seeing my parentsexpressions, he chuckled softly.”

With practiced ease, he walked behind my father, pressing his hands onto my father’s shoulders in a mock gesture of comfort. His fingers kneaded the tense muscles as if he were soothing a mere business frustration rather than a family crisis

Dad, there’s no need to worry so much. Owen is still a kid. A little sensitive, that’s all,Ethan said smoothly, his voice carrying an air of indulgence, as if speaking about a pet that had run away. Good thing he’s not running the company. He’s just throwing a spoiled

tantrum.”

A faint smirk played at the corners of his lips as he continued, Give him a couple of days to cool off and he’ll come back on his own. After all, he’s still recovering. Without us, he won’t be able to survive out there. Don’t worry, I’ll keep an eye on things and look for him.”

His words were reassuring, his tone confident. Yet, this time, my parents didn’t immediately believe him
