I stayed calm, shaking my head. “No, she’s not. I don’t have one.“}]
Serena’s face turned red with anger as she glared at me.”
Sensing the tension, Cyril suddenly interjected, his voice laced with subtle desperation. “Serena, I think I hurt my leg earlier. It’s really starting to hurt now. Could you help me back to my room?”
The crowd had been chaotic earlier, everyone scrambling to avoid the stray dog that had barreled through. A few people, myself included, had been knocked over in the commotion. My ankle still throbbed from being stepped on several times.
Serena let out a sigh of frustration, shaking her head at him. “You hate noisy places, so why did you insist on coming here?“> Despite her complaints, she looped her arm around his and began leading him toward the farmhouse.
As they passed me, her expression shifted to one of impatience. She glanced briefly in my direction and muttered, “Wait here. I’ll come find you later.“}
And just like that, she left without sparing me another glance.}
Stephanie, however, couldn’t seem to let it go. She turned to me, her face full of questions. “Albion, what was that? Why did Serena say she’s your girlfriend? What are you two hiding from me?“}
The pain radiating from my foot made it hard to focus. I waved her off. “She’s probably confused and just talking nonsense. Only a fool would take it seriously.”}
Just like me. In my past life, I foolishly believed she loved me. I carried that delusion to my grave, and it was nothing short of pathetic.
I didn’t say anything more and retreated to my room.
Still, something gnawed at me–the memory of being shoved during the earlier commotion. It hadn’t been an accident. Someone had deliberately pushed me past the safety boundary.
The more I thought about it, the clearer it became. It was Cyril. But why? What was he trying to achieve?}
Before I could untangle my thoughts, there was a knock at the door.
Serena was standing outside.}
This time, I didn’t invite her in. Instead, I stepped into the doorway, blocking her path.
She glanced around the empty hallway, lowering her voice. “I need to talk to you. Let me in.“@
“No need. If you have something to say, we can talk here. If someone sees you entering my room, they might misunderstand.”} Hearing this, she hesitated for a moment before giving up on the idea of stepping inside.
Her expression turned serious as she looked me in the eye. “Albion, what’s wrong with you today? Cyril’s antics are bad enough, but why are you playing along with him?”
“Playing along?” I asked with a faint smile. “I thought it was great. Cyril really does care about you.”
I meant every word, but Serena’s face darkened as if I’d insulted her. Her gaze narrowed, as though she were trying to read my mind. “You’re not usually like this. Why the sudden change?“>
I raised a brow. “What was I like before?“}
Her tone softened, and she even let out a small laugh, her mood shifting completely. “You used to get so jealous. You didn’t want any other guy near me and always told me to stay away from them.”
