Chapter 26
Chapter 26
The ring sparkled with a huge diamond, just the bold style Elaine loved.
At that moment, Belinda was furious. She slammed her cane on the ground with a loud thud. “Elaine, what is going on here? What are you trying to do?”
“Grandma, I didn’t…” Elaine replied, feeling completely wronged. She wanted to explain, but Kristina had been setting her up from the very beginning.
Taking a deep breath, Elaine steeled herself. “I didn’t do it. If you don’t believe me, call the family doctor. He can tell the difference between self–inflicted wounds and injuries caused by someone else. Let an expert decide who’s lying!”
Elaine’s voice rose with each word. Kristina looked startled, flinching as she shot a quick, worried glance at Elaine.
That look disappeared almost immediately, but Elaine caught it. A sly smirk spread across her face as she felt more certain about revealing Kristina’s dishonesty.
She said, “If the doctor proves that Kristina framed me, she should be kicked out of the villa. And by the way, she needs to stand right here and apologize to me until I say I’ve forgiven her.”
Belinda’s frown deepened. Elaine’s confidence threw her off, and for a moment, she wasn’t sure who to believe.
Kristina moved closer to Trenton, nestling against him like a scared kitten. In a whisper, she said, “I don’t think Elaine meant to hurt me. Maybe we should just drop it.”
Elaine let out a scoff. “Let it go? Seriously? You just accused me of trying to kill you, and now that we’re getting a doctor involved, you can’t keep up this act, huh?”
Her expression hardened, and she raised her chin defiantly. “Grandma, let’s call the doctor right now. I’m not backing down until my name is cleared and this woman’s true colors are exposed.”
Belinda nodded and immediately called for Henry Lynn, the family doctor, to come over.
Trenton had been holding Kristina’s hand the entire time. He leaned in closer now, his voice steady and firm. “No one’s kicking you out, Kristina. Not on my watch.”
Kristina returned a reassuring smile.
Moments later, Henry arrived with his medical kit. He carefully unwrapped the bandage around Kristina’s neck, examined her thoroughly, and then asked, “Can you tell me the exact positions you were standing in earlier?”
Elaine hurriedly replied, “She was on top of me, first threatening me with an earring against my neck, and then she used it to cut herself.”
Henry nodded and continued his examination, paying close attention to the angle of the cut. The room stayed quiet for a few minutes until he finally spoke up. “Mrs. Kristina McClain was indeed injured by someone else.”
While he didn’t name Elaine, everyone there could tell she was the culprit.
“People have a natural pain threshold,” Henry added. “There’s no way she could’ve cut herself that deep, especially in such a sensitive spot like the neck. And look at the angle–it’s upward. If she did it herself, it would’ve been a downward cut.”
At that moment, Elaine was completely stunned. “No way!” She glared at them, realization hitting her. “I get it now–you two are in cahoots, aren’t you? You’re teaming up to frame me.”
She pointed incredulously at Henry and Kristina, her face twisting in anger, looking nothing like the poised lady she usually
was.

Belinda’s anger flared even hotter, and she banged her cane on the floor. “Enough! Dr. Lynn has been by my side for over a decade. Kristina just became part of this family–there’s no way they’d team up against you. Elaine, I’m beyond disappointed. Violence has no place in this house.”
Her face turned beet red with anger with rage as she struggled to catch her breath. Fortunately, the butler was quick to step in and steady her. After straightening her headscarf, she looked toward Kristina. “You’re the one who’s been hurt. What do you think we should do?”
Before Kristina could respond, Trenton stepped in protectively, his voice sharp and cutting. “Kick her out and make her stand there to apologize until she is forgiven.” His expression was chillingly cold, his eyes dark and intense, as if ready to drag Elaine into an abyss of despair.
