The reporters began to bombard Kristina with questions, and it became clear that if she didn’t handle this situation well, she wouldn’t be able to leave.
Kristina’s cold gaze swept over the agitated journalists until it landed on a certain figure in the crowd. Her eyes narrowed slightly, and her expression turned icy.
Trenton, standing beside her, noticed the shift in the atmosphere. As some reporters pushed closer to Kristina, Trenton’s sharp brows furrowed and his penetrating gaze effectively pushed the reporters back.
The journalists momentarily flinched, hesitant to come any closer, instead reaching out their microphones as far as possible.

“Every donut, every piece of clothing, is itemized down to the last cent. We can trace exactly where every dollar has gone.”
Caroline sneered, challenging her. “Those fancy words won’t cover up the fact that you’re stealing! You must give us an explanation now!”
With her encouragement, the reporters intensified their questioning, yet Kristina stood firm throughout the barrage.
Trenton’s sharp eyes were fixed on her, noticing no sign of panic in her demeanor; she remained composed, unfazed. He couldn’t help but believe that Kristina would figure this out.
“Give me five minutes,” she said, sending a silent signal to Trenton.
They slipped into a quieter corner, where Kristina pulled out her phone and scrolled through her contacts to call her best friend, Yasmine.
In her previous life, because of Tessa and Stanley’s schemes, she had cut ties with Yasmine, and now happened to be in a spat with her as well.
When the call connected, Yasmine’s voice came through, sounding hurt. “Kristina, you finally decided to talk to me. I thought we were done for good…”
“Sorry, Yasmine. I’ll explain everything later. I need your help–I’m in a bit of a bind,” Kristina replied urgently.
“Sure! What do you
need?”
Kristina explained, “I’m going to send you a picture of a check. It might be fake, but can you get your brother to look into it? I need this done fast.”
“Got it. I’ll contact him right away.”
After hanging up, Kristina quickly sent Yasmine the photo of the invoice. A few minutes later, she received a reply. Yasmine not only sent back the real invoice but also attached a detailed purchase record and surveillance footage.
