One of the guards nearly had a hunting dog on a leash. The dog sniffed around the cake and then turned its head away. clearly disgusted.
Trenton sneered, “Look, even your dog won’t touch it. How can you expect people to eat this?
Devin’s face darkened. “This is the second time you’ve disrespected me. Are you sure you won’t eat it? The threat was crystal clear,
Kristina knew better than to push her luck. She picked up a small piece of peanut butter cheesecake and took a bite. “I’ll eat
As she chewed, Devin’s eyes were fixed on her face. His gaze was deep and unreadable, but there was an unmistakable sense of danger in it.
After a few more bites, his attention finally shifted away. He waved his hand dismissively. “Alright, you can leave”
Kristina didn’t waste any time and left with Trenton immediately
A helicopter was already hovering in the sky, waiting for them. As soon as she boarded, Kristina’s face turned pale.
“Ma’am, are you…” one of her guards asked worriedly
Kristina waved her hand, trying to hold back the nausea. “Head straight to the Central Hospital… Her voice was already hoarse, and then she couldn’t speak at all.
Trenton exploded in rage. “He actually poisoned you!”
Unable to speak, Kristina clutched Trenton’s arm, trying to calm him down.
As soon as they arrived at the hospital, Kristina was rushed into the emergency room. Her throat was so swollen she couldn’t breathe, but they made it to the hospital just in time, and she was saved.
Lying in the hospital bed, Kristina listened as the doctor explained her condition. “You had an allergic reaction. What did you eat just now?”
“I had some peanut butter. It’s never been this bad before, just a little itch in my throat,” said Kristina.
The doctor nodded seriously. “Allergies can be serious. In bad cases, they can kill.
“Some people can have a full–blown reaction just from touching a tiny bit of the allergen. The worst part is, it can cause your throat to swell up and block your airway. You need to avoid this food completely.”

Kristina nodded, feeling her throat start to itch again whenever she spoke,
The doctor left after giving her some more advice.
Trenton looked at Kristina with concern, holding her hand tightly. “I’m going to the restroom. I’ll be right back
Kristina nodded, still unable to speak.
On the other side, Devin sat in his luxurious chair at the dining table, lighting a cigarette. His expression was gloomy.
The butler approached cautiously and stood beside him.
Devin sighed, “Abby is allergic to peanuts. It looks like we’ve picked the wrong person again.”
His face clearly showed disappointment, and the light in his eyes dimmed. At that moment, a commotion erupted from the living room, and Trenton reappeared.
“Why did you come back?” Devin didn’t get an answer. Instead, he heard a loud gunshot.
Trenton held a handgun, the dark muzzle pointed at Devin. The bullet grazed his skin, drawing a trail of red blood.
“Did I treat you too nicely, Trenton, that you think you can do whatever you want here?” Devin’s entire demeanor turned cold. Hidden snipers were ready, their red laser sights converging on Trenton.
“Even if I kill you, I can take responsibility for it,” Devin said, waving his hand to signal the snipers to fire. In an instant, all the snipers pulled the trigger.
