Chapter 5
At the sight of the body, Jaxon’s legs felt like they were made of lead. He froze, his face turning a sickly pale.
“Is this… Olivia?!”
Jaxon quickly turned to Henry, his eyes filled with horror, and coldly demanded.
“Henry! What’s going on here?
“Didn’t I tell you to take good care of her? Is this how you take care of her?”
Jaxon started to rush toward the body.
Henry panicked, immediately blocked him, and showed a smile, lying.
“Mr. Rivers, this is all just one of Mrs. Rivers‘ pranks.
“You’ve been neglecting her these past few days, so Mrs. Rivers must have gotten a silicone mannequin that looks like her just to mess with you!”
Jaxon tried to stay calm but doubt still lingered in his eyes.
“Then are the rotten smell and all the blood stains fake, too?”
Henry stubbornly refused to admit the truth.
“Isn’t this just for realism?
“This time, Mrs. Rivers really went all out to make it convincing. Clearly, she’s furious.” Jaxon muttered, nodding thoughtfully.
Just then, something suddenly flickered.
Jaxon immediately turned to look in the direction of the body.
“Wait, something just flashed over there. Was it a ring?”
As he spoke, Jaxon started walking toward the body, but Henry quickly grabbed his arm, looking sure of himself.
“Mr. Rivers, that can’t be a ring. You must be seeing things.
“You haven’t seen Mrs. Rivers in a while. You’re just rattled from being concerned.
“She’s fine, and she has her phone. If something was wrong, why wouldn’t she ask you for help?”
At this, Jaxon instinctively let out a breath of relief.
But I couldn’t help but sneer.
He probably forgot that, to prevent me from ruining the wedding, he had locked me in the villa and taken away my phone.
That was why, when I was bleeding out later, I couldn’t call for help and had to wait in hopeless despair for death.
If Jaxon had been paying attention, he would have noticed this body was mine.
The thing that flickered in front of me was the custom–made diamond ring he’d bought for me, worth millions.
Jaxon stayed silent for a moment before turning to Henry.
“So where’s Olivia? Where did she go?”
<
Henry couldn’t explain where I was. All he could say was that I was mad at Jaxon, so I had purposely been hiding from him.
“The villa’s not that big. How much longer could she possibly hide?”
With that, Jaxon began searching the place floor by floor.
But aside from the blood everywhere, he found nothing.
Jaxon’s face grew even more anxious, especially when he saw the unopened instant noodles and the untouched bottle of water.
“The supplies I left in the villa weren’t even opened. Henry, where exactly has Olivia hidden?”
Henry, seeing he couldn’t keep lying anymore, hesitated and then spoke up.
“Mr. Rivers, a few days ago, Mrs. Rivers had terrible stomach pain, so I took her to the hospital to get checked in.
“She was angry at you and told me not to tell you, so I… didn’t say anything”
Jaxon furrowed his brows. He quickly asked, “Which hospital?”
Henry, cornered, made up a lie and gave him a random name.
“Beaconridge Hospital.”
Jaxon grabbed the car keys, ready to head to Beaconridge Hospital.
Henry, knowing trouble was coming, had a hopeless look on his face as he took out his phone and started typing something to someone.
Just then, Jaxon’s phone suddenly rang.
He picked it up, and Ruby’s panicked voice came through immediately.
“Jaxon, I’m in so much pain, I think I’m going into labor!
“But I’m back home, and the roads are terrible. Can you take me to the hospital?”
