Chapter 7
Ruby’s voice cracked with grief.
But Jaxon only responded coldly, his expression unwavering.
“Ruby, I can’t help you forever.
“You can find someone else to help you, to play along with you, but I can’t.

“I have a wife, and I have a child.
“Rest, I’m going to check on Olivia at the hospital next door.”
“Jaxon…”
Ruby wanted to say something more, but Jaxon turned and left without another word.
Once he arrived at Beaconridge Hospital, Jaxon immediately grabbed a passing nurse.
“Hi, can you tell me which room Olivia is in?”
The nurse looked at him in confusion.
“We don’t have any patient named Olivia, Mr. Rivers. Are you sure you’re at the right hospital?”
Jaxon froze, disbelief written all over his face.
“What? No Olivia?
“That can’t be… My wife was just in labor here…”
Suddenly, as if a thought occurred to him, he smiled faintly.
“I get it now! You’re one of Olivia’s hired actresses, right?
“How much did she pay you? I’ll double it. Just take me to her.”
The nurse stared at him, clearly baffled.
“Mr. Rivers, are you insulting my profession?
“I don’t know who you’re talking about. There’s no Olivia here.”
To prove her point, the nurse brought up the hospital’s records, flipping through them repeatedly, unable to find any mention of me. Only then did Jaxon realize something was terribly wrong.
The more he thought about it, the worse it seemed. He immediately tried calling Henry, but the phone rang unanswered.
Just as he was about to take further action to track me down, his phone rang.
“Henry, didn’t you tell me Olivia was here at Beaconridge Hospital? Why can’t I find any record of her?”
Before he could finish, the voice on the other end interrupted him.
“Are you a family member of Olivia’s? We’re from the crematorium. The deceased has already been cremated. Could you come by to collect her belongings?”
