Chapter 9
I looked over at Jaxon, puzzled, following his gaze.
When I saw the video, I, too, was stunned.
The video wasn’t just any random footage. It was the surveillance video from the villa!
That was when I suddenly remembered that I had installed security cameras at the house when I had dogs.
But after the dogs died, I hadn’t used the cameras again.
I never expected them to come in handy now.
The video clearly showed Henry abusing me inside the villa.
When Jaxon saw Henry punching and kicking me, violently stomping on my stomach, his face turned an even deeper shade of green.
And when he saw me, barely conscious and collapsing in the villa, with the child we had waited so long for turning into a pool of blood, Jaxon’s expression darkened to a frightening level.
He clenched his fists, veins popping on his forehead.

I understood. This was a sign that Jaxon was about to explode.
Noticing something was off with him, Ruby quickly smiled and tried to act sweet.
“Jaxon, what’s wrong? Did something happen?”
Hearing her, Jaxon quickly regained his composure, and as Ruby leaned in to look at his phone, he swiftly turned off the screen.
“It’s nothing. Just some company stuff.”
He said that, but there was a clear suspicion in his eyes when he looked at Ruby.
After this, Jaxon had no interest in having fun. He made an excuse about being busy with work and ended the date early, taking Ruby home.
Then, he immediately drove to Henry’s place.
When Henry saw Jaxon, he couldn’t stop his legs from shaking.
“Mr. Rivers, what are you doing here?”
Jaxon took in Henry’s terrified expression, his eyes growing even colder.
“What? Can’t I come to see you?
“Or is it… you’ve been hiding something from me?”
Henry broke into a cold sweat. “Mr. Rivers, I’m loyal to you. How could I do anything to betray you?”
“Henry, at this point, you still won’t tell me the truth? Why did you kill Olivia and her child?”
Henry’s legs gave out, and he dropped to his knees with a loud thud, but he still refused to admit anything.
“Mr. Rivers, you’ve been misled. Where did you hear these rumors? I don’t know what you’re talking about.
“You’ve always treated me well. How could I hurt Mrs. Rivers and her child?”
Seeing that Henry wouldn’t admit to anything, Jaxon shoved the surveillance video right in front of him.
“Misled? Then what’s this?
“Henry, Henry, you’ve got it good, haven’t you? All this time, I’ve been played for a fool!”
Faced with undeniable evidence, Henry couldn’t defend himself anymore.
His face turned ashen as he staggered backward, fear creeping into his voice as he started to tremble.
“Mr. Rivers, please spare me! I didn’t mean to! I was forced into it…
“It was Ruby! It was all her fault!
“She said you didn’t care about Mrs. Rivers anymore, that I had no future with an old woman who wasn’t loved, and she said she’d take over sooner or later. If I offended her, she’d make sure I paid.
“I had no choice. That’s why I did something stupid…”
Hearing Henry’s words, Jaxon ground his teeth together, his voice icy.
“Ruby? It was her?”
