Celine’s company was completely finished.
To get revenge on her, Jack had taken confidential company documents to a rival firm.
This was the final straw that broke the company. Soon after, it went bankrupt.
When I saw Celine again, she had even grown a lot of gray hair. Her hair was messy and unkempt, and her clothes looked like they had been worn for a long time, somewhat dirty.
When she saw me, tears immediately flowed down her face. Her whole demeanor was dejected as she hung her head and asked, “Alex, did I really mess up that badly?”
I didn’t answer her question. I just showed her my ring and said calmly, “Celine, I’m getting married. Please stop bothering me.”
Hearing my words, Celine suddenly lifted her head. When she saw the ring on my finger, her whole body trembled uncontrollably. In a hoarse voice, she begged me:
“Alex, I really know I was wrong. It was Jack who seduced me first. Now I’ve realized that you’re the one I truly love.”
Celine was always like this – blaming others for her mistakes.
I had to admit, I must have been blind before to like someone like her.
Seeing I wasn’t speaking, Celine thought there was still hope. She quickly said, “Alex, please forgive me. I really won’t do anything like this again. I’m begging you.”
I looked at Celine, my tone devoid of any emotion. I spoke to her like a stranger: “The way you are now only disgusts me.”
“Celine, you say you love me, but where were you when I had that car accident?”
“You were curled up on the couch playing games with Jack. You didn’t even ask if I was okay. The next day you made his favorite seafood porridge, forgetting I’m allergic to seafood.”

“I know all of this, and I also know that when my mom passed away, on our anniversary, during our graduation trip – you were with Jack every time.”
“You say you love me. Don’t you find yourself disgusting?”

I wanted to leave, but Celine reached out to grab me.
She asked, “Is there really no chance for us?”
I frowned, “Let go of my hand.”
Celine persisted, “Alex, I really do still love you. I only love you. I know I did everything wrong before, but now I’ve realized my mistake. Can’t you forgive me just this once?”
I yanked my hand away from Celine’s. “It’s impossible, Celine. I don’t love you anymore. There’s really no chance for us.”
With that, I strode away without looking back at Celine once.
