Chapter 51
“He likes you now, but do you really think he’s that easy to deal with? You’re living it up, spending Trenton’s money, and then you end up pregnant with his nephew’s kid. What kind of mess is that?” said John.
Just then, Lisa walked over. She glanced at Trenton, then turned to Kristina. “Your dad is right. You can’t just mess this up. Tessa is marrying Stanley. If you screw this up, what does that make us? What if this gets out?”
Seeing how anxious the couple looked, Kristina got it. They thought she was pregnant and worried she’d mess up Tessa’s chances. Their words sounded caring, like they were afraid she’d face the McClain family’s wrath. Yet, it wasn’t really what they meant.
Kristina clutched her stomach protectively. “What are you even talking about?”
John was getting frantic. “Look, you can’t keep this baby. It’s unclear who the father is even before it’s born. Once it’s out, people will talk even more. It’s not good for you or the kid!
“Nowadays, with all this advanced tech, you can do a DNA test in just a month or two. We’ll know for sure whose kid it is then.”
At that moment, at the entrance of the corridor’s round hall, a woman was hiding behind a pillar, quietly watching the scene unfold.
Caroline had come to the hospital to take care of her dad, who had fainted from anger. She didn’t expect to overhear such a bombshell.
Kristina was pregnant with Stanley’s kid and cheated on his uncle.
A cold gleam shot from Caroline’s eyes. She finally had a chance to get back at Kristina.
Because of Kristina, Caroline’s dad had fainted over a contract cancellation and was still lying in bed, unconscious.
Caroline had become the scapegoat, with everyone in her family blaming her. Of course, she hated Kristina to the core.
Now that Kristina had handed her an opportunity, Caroline wasn’t going to let it slip away. With a cunning smile on her face, Caroline stepped back and left quickly.
Meanwhile, Kristina was still locked in a standoff with John and Lisa. She placed her hand on her stomach and said slowly, “Who said I’m pregnant?”
You came to the maternity ward for a check–up. It’s obvious,” Lisa said.
“Huh? Does coming to the maternity ward mean I have to be pregnant?” Kristina’s eyes darkened as she looked at Lisa. “I fell into a river as a kid and got sick.
“I have bad menstrual cramps every month, so it’s hard for me to get pregnant. I just came to see if the doctor could help.”
Kristina sighed, looking a bit down, “The doctor said it’s really hard to fix it. So I was thinking of adopting one of Tessa’s kids later.”
At that, Lisa’s eyes lit up. She wanted to get Tessa into the McClain family. Now, before Tessa had even stepped in, her grandson was already set to be the future heir of the McClain family, holding all the power tightly.
At that moment, Tessa walked over. She seemed skeptical and tried to peek at Kristina’s lab report as she passed by. Sure enough, it said something like irregular menstruation.
Lisa’s attitude changed drastically. She quickly comforted Kristina, “Oh, I see. You really need to take good care of yourself. We were just too worried.:
Kristina nodded, but inside, she couldn’t help but sneer. It was just a bit of irregular menstruation, something most young girls had. It didn’t affect her ability to get pregnant at all.
Tessa had heard about Kristina’s idea and couldn’t wait to bring a meal to Stanley’s hospital room. She thought, ‘Kristina is so smart. If my kid is really adopted by her, it will become the heir of the McClain family.
“Blood ties can’t be broken. The kid would still love me, the biological mother, the most. So in the end, the one really holding the power would be
me
Thinking of this, Tessa naturally served Stanley even more attentively, making him itch with desire and unable to wait to pounce on her.
