Chapter 56
A weird, warm feeling spread through her stomach. Kristina put her hand on her lower belly, feeling all cozy.
Iris’s face twisted in disbelief. She’d planned to use this to trash Kristina, but instead, she’d just helped Kristina lock down her position.
Kristina raised her head, looking serious and determined. “I’ve never had anything with Stanley, and I can prove I’m innocent.”
She sneered, “Before Stanley proposed, he made me get a medical checkup. He said he wanted a pure girl. I can release that report anytime.”
“Who knows if you bribed the doctor to fake it? Everyone knows that stuff can be fixed!” Iris kept pushing.
Belinda had clearly had enough. She slammed her cane on the floor, trying to end this crazy mess. “Are you done yet? Do you want everyone to keep laughing at us? Let’s just leave.”
Kristina stepped forward. “Wait, I have something to say.”
She walked over to the projector, plugged in the memory card, and started the video. The living room had a screen set up, and the footage showed up crystal clear.
It was the video of Stanley having someone rape her. The elders in the room were stunned and couldn’t believe their eyes.
Kristina said, “Everyone, I can’t stay quiet anymore. After this happened, I didn’t tell anyone because I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it and let outsiders laugh at us.
“So I took all this humiliation, thinking it would be over. But Stanley and his family still won’t leave me alone, and now they’re even turning it around on me.”
Tears glistened in Kristina’s eyes, making her look fragile but resilient.
“Stanley was jealous I married Trenton, so he tried to ruin me. I’m scared of what he might do next. That’s why I want to split the family.” She said it with pure determination.
Iris flared up and pointed at Kristina, trembling. This bitch had actually released the video and now she wanted to split the family.
Trenton held the real power now. If they split, Iris’s family would lose everything. It was obvious she was trying to push them out. “No way! I won’t agree to this!” snapped Iris.
Without wasting any more breath on Iris, Kristina turned to Belinda. “Belinda, I hope you’ll let Trenton and me move out. I’m tired of living in fear, and now that I’m pregnant, who knows what else might happen?” She knew how to play the game.
Iris’s face turned purple with rage, her features twisted. Moving out was just another way of splitting the family.
Fuming, Iris shook all over and suddenly fainted. The relatives scrambled to lay her on the sofa, thinking the drama was finally over. But Kristina wasn’t done yet. “Doctor, could you check on Iris? I think acupuncture would work faster.”
James was great at everything, except his acupuncture hurt like crazy. Last time, Kristina had almost passed out from the pain.
James, carrying his medical kit, waved his hand. “No need. To wake her up, acupuncture is too much trouble. Just take a sewing needle and prick her fingernail. It always works, even on someone half–dead.”
Hearing this, Iris, who was pretending to be unconscious, cursed in her mind, ‘Is he a doctor or an interrogator? If I hadn’t brought him myself, I would have suspected he was in cahoots with Kristina!
Iris braced herself for the pain.
