Chapter 59
The car made a few turns and pulled up to an abandoned building in the suburbs. The men dragged Stanley out, threw him on the ground, and yanked off the hood covering his head.
Stanley was scared, surrounded by burly guys. He didn’t dare shout like before and looked as pitiful as a lapdog. “I’m wrong. I’m totally wrong. I’ll give you whatever money you want. Please don’t hurt me. My leg is still broken!”
The leader grinned, a smile full of meaning. He unbuckled his belt, and the other men followed suit, all of them slowly closing in on Stanley.
“No, no, help me… help!” The old, empty building echoed with Stanley’s blood–curdling screams.
Nearby, in an open area, a top–of–the–line luxury car was parked. Inside, the dashboard was set with fruits and coffee. Devin and Trenton sat back, listening to the screaming while leisurely enjoying themselves.
“I’ve always liked the idea of giving people a taste of their own medicine. Most of the time, people don’t know how much it hurts until it happens to them, Devin mused, blowing on the steam rising from his cup.
“Trenton, how’s that thing I asked you to do going? Have you even hinted to my girl that I’m her dad? Kristina takes after me. She’s proud and stubborn. What did she say?”
Like father, like daughter. Devin knew Kristina’s temper, despite not spending much time with her.
He was also a bit frustrated, wondering, ‘Why does she have to take after me?‘
Trenton’s face remained expressionless as he shook his head slightly.
Devin clicked his tongue. “Didn’t you promise to help me?”
“I never promised anything,” Trenton replied. “If you can’t bring it up yourself, what makes you think my words will have any effect? Since when do you need someone else to tell your daughter you’re her dad?”
“Hey, you…” Devin frowned, looking at Trenton’s indifferent and proud expression. He wasn’t sure whether to be angry or amused.
Trenton looked mature, but he had the temperament of a kid. Anyway, Devin didn’t want to argue with a child.
Then why did you want me to help you teach Stanley a lesson tonight? You’re his uncle. It’s your job to discipline the younger generation,” said Devin.
Trenton took a sip of coffee, his tone still flat. “Kristina doesn’t like me doing this. She wants me to be good, so I’m being a good boy.”
Devin didn’t know what to say. Trenton wanted to be a good boy. He also wanted to be a good dad. It seemed he was being used as a tool.
Back in the abandoned building, Stanley’s miserable howls lingered on. A few motion–sensor lights flickered on and off occasionally, making the scene look eerie from a distance.
At the bar, Kristina and Yasmin were already on their third round. The music was loud and energetic, and the dance floor was packed with people grinding together, enjoying the wild nightlife.
Yasmin, always playful and lively, was tipsy now and couldn’t hold back. “Kristina, even though you’re married, we can’t miss out on our nightlife. While you were away, this place got a major upgrade. They have a hidden menu now.”
Yasmin grinned mischievously and grabbed Kristina’s hand. “Come on. Let’s really let loose.”
She clapped her hands and called over a waiter, whispering something into his ear. The waiter nodded and left.
Soon after, a group of gigolos appeared on the stage in front of them. To the beat of the music, they danced around the poles, stripping off their clothes piece by piece.
Yasmin was getting more and more into it, but Kristina felt something was off. “Yasmin, there’s nothing fun about this bar. If you want to relax, I’ll take you somewhere better. Let’s do something more exciting.”
Kristina raised an eyebrow, pulled Yasmin away, and led her into an underground casino connected to the bar. It was divided into two zones. She’d spent all her money on the land, so she’d carn some extra cash here tonight.
The casino had several gambling areas. Kristina headed straight for the one with the richest patrons and started playing dice with a man. “I’ll bet on high!”
“Girl, guessing high or low isn’t something you just say. Be careful you don’t lose yourself,” the man warned.

Kristina sneered and, under the scornful gazes of the crowd, lifted the dice cup. She won.
“Wow, Kristina, you’re amazing!” Yasmin cheered her on.
The man across from her wasn’t convinced and challenged her again. This time, Kristina bet low and won once more.
Kristina and Yasmin were having a great time, completely unaware that in a corner, several pairs of eyes were watching them. An elegant man in a silver–gray tuxedo with diamond studs sat on a sofa, smoking a cigarette.
He sat with his legs crossed, looking relaxed. His narrow eyes held a hint of mischief. The flickering red light from his cigarette added to his mysterious vibe. “Is this her?” he asked.
